Even though I obtained authorization from the VA for the procedure, they refuse to pay the bill which totals $7K! I looked up customary charges for the procedure and they are $1k-$1.4k. It appears Stanford hospital billing is trying to submit a fraudulent bill to the VA. Stanford billing is supposedly going to call me in 7-10 days. I will post updates as this in CV identify progresses.
I went to Stanford on 2/9/15 for echocardiogram. I had an authorization letter from the VA so I thought everything was good. I literally spent about 10mins. in the doctors office having the procedure done by a tech. Later I get the bill from the hospital for $6800! The customary charge for this procedure is around $1000. The VA refused to pay it (little wonder) so Stanford is trying to stick me with it.

I received a call from Stanford billing saying that they were still looking into the matter and they needed another 10 business days to get back to me with any informexplsin When they do, I will ask them to explain why they are charging me or the VA SEVEN TIMES the normal price for an echocardiogram!
