fraudulent scammers! save your money. they are happy to collect but not to repair or replace anything ! My water heater started leaking on 11/ 6/ 13 and I called stanley to replace/ fix my water heater. unfortunately, my water heater is a direct vent system so it cost more to replace.
They sent out 3 contractors to see if there was any possibilities of repairing the water heater. then after 2 weeks and stanley realizing the cheapest estimate was 2000, they denied my claim stating I had purchased my policy from universal administrators which was a company that was selling policies for them and they are now suing that company. I called them back and told them that was not my problem that they bought a bad account. Going back and forth with them, they offered me 250 for my water heater. I told them that was not acceptable.
They pulled out an unsigned contract that was with universal that was totally different from the one that was originally sent to me that stated was with universal for stanley. I called them back wanting to know why there was a discrepancy in the contracts. They had a manager call me within 5 mins to offer me 500.00. of course in the dead of winter and getting no where with these crooks,
I went ahead and purchased my own water heater for 900.00. I had to wait another 3 weeks because it was a special order item. The day I got the water in, I called Stanley and spoke to the crooks and they said they'd send someone out to have it installed. I was ok with that as installation was btwn $1000-1500. I felt it was only fair that they should cover half the cost of my water heater.
when the gentleman came to install the water heater he called for authorization and he gave them the estimate and they told him he could do the job till he reached a max of $700 and then he would have to call them back to proceed. he told them he couldn't do that as it was already 5pm at night. he told them he knew the job was going to be at least $1000.
this was thanksgiving eve, tired of going almost a month without running hot water , I called my handy man who had quoted me 790 and had him do the work for me. I called stanley to say, if you are willing to pay the 700 for installation why not just settle the claim and write me the chk for 700. they refused. They stuck with the 500.00. then, when I turned in receipt for Lowe's and my handy man they refused to pay me the 500 they had promised stating that the water heater was not installed by a bonded company and the receipt provided was not adequate to substantiate payment.
prior to this they had called my handyman to try to pay him 300 after I had already paid him luckily he is was trustworthy enough to say deal with your client. I still have not seen a payment from Stanley, but one thing I know is people don't prosper long of the sweat of hard working people!!!! We will all have our day to answer.
