A year ago I purchased insurance for my Hewlet Packard laptop for $400 for 3 years from Staples. Now after many problems (the computer is obviously a lemon) the wireless card is broken. Their records don't show that I purchased the warranty. We faxed them a copy of the receipt twice. This has been going on for 3 weeks. They still haven't sent us a box to mail the computer back to them for repairs. Now I'm told that no matter what is wrong with the computer they will only format the hard drive and send it back to me. I've already done that and the wireless card still doesn't work. Why should it anyway? This is not a software problem.

Small Claims Court

With a valid receipt, you have recourse. Either contact your state's division of consumer affairs - let someone help you with this battle. OR file a claim in small claims court. Sounds as if the service administrator (probably Federal Warranty) is dragging their feet. IF you've been calling the number in the booklet, circumvent that and call Staples corporate directly - ask for the dept that handles the service plans. One or more of these will get you satisfaction.
