Staples ripoff dishonest misrepresented cheated Warwwick Rhode Island

Bought an extended warranty on a product from staples. The salesman stated this was better than the manufactures warranty. Stated if anything ever happened to the product all we had to do was bring it back to Staples. They woud repair or replace the product, based on the issue.

We had an issue with our printer only three months into ownership. We did as the salesman said and brought it to Staples. Well when we arrived at Staples repair center, we were told we had to contact tech support first.
They gave us HP's tech support number. We explained what the salesman said "we just had to bring it back to Staples". He stated that the salesman was wrong, and we had to contact tech support and go through HP until our warranty was up.

We called Staples customer service to get a better understanding. They informed us that the warranty from Staples does not supersede the manufactures warranty. They also stated this is very common issue with the salesman. We then asked if after the one year HP warranty was up,if we had three more from Staples. They said no the first year is only tech support and after that we could utilize the repair/replacement policy.
So we were lied to, just so we would purchase the warranty. We did not recieve a three yr extended warranty, but a two year extended warranty.
