Thanks to all of you who have posted here. I got a call from someone at Startup Essentials about an hour ago saying they were interviewing me to see if they would like to invest in me as a business owner with no up-front cost. After about 30 minutes of discussion, they finally mention the $134/month overhead cost. I asked specifically what this cost covered. Jody, who was interviewing me didn't know, so he put John Kloon on the phone to explain it to me. The answer he told me was that they had done their research and found that most people wouldn't blow off a $134.month investment. He used the analogy of a health club, saying that many people will pay $50/mo for health clud dues and never use it because the expense is expendable. So this $134 is a sort of motivator to get people to work at it. Never did he mention it was to pay for leased equipment.

Then I asked about the $200 gift certificate for PayPerClick, asking how much more than the $200 would it cost me to register a search term. Jody was unable to tell me.

So, while I'm on the phone with Jody and John, I did a search and came up with this site. Thanks to you, I saved myself the money and headache signing up would have caused me.

I would also like to caution anyone out there that if a company wants an immediate signed commitment on your part without giving you time to do a little research or think about it, then they must be a scam. Can the government come up with a sort of lemon-law for this sort of scam? Or the 3-day remorse clause such as many businesses offer? Keep writing!
