I bought the Stauer compass '33 watch 10 months ago. The 24 hour dial fell off and jammed the watch. It keeps the second hand locked up. I called their customer service dept. told them of the problem. They said the manufacterer only covers the mechanism if the watch will not run. I told Stauer that I expected them to repair the problem. They said they only warranty the watch for 30 days. I said I did not cause the problem with the watch, it was defective from the start. There was no way that anyone could cause the problem. The watch is a piece of junk and that is why there is no warranty. I have never received any warranty or guarantee from the company. They want me to ship the watch back at my expense and pay $30-$50. to repair the problem.

My Experience

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

Been in the business 24+ years. Hands normally just don't "fall" off. They're usually knocked off. In your heading you state the 24 hr hand hand fell off but in the paragraph you state the 24 hour dial fell off, so I'm not sure which one did, but the same holds true for either. Don't bother to send it back. Take the watch to a decent watch shop. Any good watch guy ought to be able to put it the hand back on for $10 or $15. I charge $15. Had a lady come in one day. She had knocked a couple of markers off her fendi. She took it to the local branch of a nationwide company that sells hi-grade watches. The charged her $30 to send it to fendi, who then quoted her $85 to re-apply the markers AND $25 for shipping. The whole job is gonna cost her $140 for something I charge $15 for. Talk about a rip. If the watch was defective from the start, you should have sent it back, FROM THE START, yet you've kept it for the last 10 months. Based on my experience, those watches aren't worth s**t. People bring 'em in all the time and I just tell them to send 'em back to the manufacturer cause I won't work on 'em. Kind of like those invictas. What did you pay for it?
