I am writing to you to complain about the quality of the workmanship by your company. I purchase a Tanzanite ring and bracelet as a gift for my wife at Christmas from your shop Pointe Seraphine Duty Free Shopping Centre in Castries St Lucia, when we arrived back in England we had a valuation carried out on the two items purchased from Columbian Emeralds store to find out that the ring had been painted in order to enhance the look of the ring, also the carat value on the certificate is of a lesser value and not the same as that stated on the certificate.

I am very disappointed at this as I was under the impression that Columbian Emeralds were a reputable company in the Caribbean and US, I would therefore like to return the ring back to you for a full refund as this was only purchased on the 31st December 2008 and therefore is not outside of the 30 days of purchase.
I have enclosed a copy of your invoice and the certification from the jeweller in the United Kingdom to verify the falsification of the ring, I am upset that to sell a product that you would carry out such methods, and would hope this does not happen under normal circumstances.

This defect is unacceptable. It is implicit that you would complete the work with reasonable care and skill. These obligations are laid down in the Sales of Goods Act 1982. The defect above clearly indicates that you have failed to fulfil your legal obligations and accordingly are in breach of contract.
