Stoney Run Builders whose main team is from the original Clearview Builders.

Clearview Sales force and Contractors are at it again, working together under a new Company called Stoney Run Builders And Realty Inc. They advertise build the home of your dreams.

Now we all know Dennis Slayton has been in and out of jail and is currently being sued for all his worldly possessions, but did you ever wonder what happened to his Sales force. You know George Harrison, Kevin and George Gallagher teamed with Kevin Walsh and Deanna Tregaskis, all from the main office of Clearview.

The same office that mislead all their Clients into believing their homes were still in progress, when in fact they were gutting the main office in Broadheadsville. The same people who we trusted with our savings and dreams for many months, and we didn't even get a call to inform you what was in store.

Well call me a glutton for punishment, after loosing my initial investment a $5000 dollar down, I still decided to build a home with Stoney Run Builders. We had faith and believed in one particular sales person (George Harrison) of the original Clearview team.

Of course in the beginning everything seemed great. We were given verbal estimates, we agreed on prices, made our upgrades, along with standard picks. We were told permits were in and it would take 6 months to build, our tentative move in date end of November 2005.

We applied for a 9 month construction loan, and everyone was anxious to get started. The original plans and purchase order did not match, so we initialed changes that were to be given to the contractor prior to building.

The first surprise came minutes after closing, we were told by George Harrison the wood burning fireplace we ordered could not be installed according to plan. Everything from that point on went downhill. Furthermore because of an error between the Sales force and the Contractor, we have a gas fireplace that could have been installed anywhere in the room.

Our estimates doubled in most cases and tripled in others. We were told by George Harrison he received estimates from a number of sub contractors, we only saw one. The head of the Sales force team Kevin Walsh actually told me although you made all your picks both standard and upgrades in our Office, after the contract was signed at the closing the Sales force has nothing to do with us. It was merely for our convenience we made our picks there.

Well of course things heated up, I demanded to speak to someone over his head and was told by Matt Crowl the licensed Contractor from Mooseywood Construction, Kevin Walsh was the top executive and we had nowhere else to turn.

When in fact both Stoney Run Builders and Mooseywood Construction Company are both backed and paid by Boulder Creek Resorts and according to Skip Frey of Boulder Creek, they are very much involved with the building process. My wife and I found this out after months of mistakes, arguments, aggravation, disappointments and of course additional finances.

To give you an idea it took 7 months to get a correct additional work authorization document from Mooseywood Construction. We agreed not to rip out the gas fireplace because we were told we would make our deadline of March for our construction loan. When that couldn't be met we were told the fine print states the have until May in our contract to complete the home.

When Skip Frey did get involved many problems could not be fixed. I must say he always conducted himself with class, understanding, and very professional. He is a man of his word. Unfortunately his crew left him out of the picture.

Don't get me wrong we had a few good experiences with a couple of sub contractors who worked on our home. For example: the Company who did the foundation and the excavator did an excellent job. We met both and they always carried themselves in a professional manner and I would without a doubt recommend their services. But for the most part it's been a nightmare.

My wife and I have over 300 emails backing everything we claim and we also have a list of all the sub contractors who worked on our home. Please before signing with Stoney Run Builders come see our home. See first hand the quality of workmanship that went into our home and let us tell you of the lack of professionalism demonstrated to us throughout our building process. We will go into detail every problem we had and back it up with corresponding emails from both the Sales force and the Contractor. My wife and I finally moved into our home, May 8, 2006, but still have outstanding worked to be finished by the builder.

Building a home should be an exciting and very happy experience. We dread the weekly drive to see what was done or more important what wasn't done. And on some occasions what was changed because of a decision made solely by the Contractor or one of his team. We are offering the Pocono Community an opportunity to see for themselves our home, we will answer all questions. I can be reached at (((ROR REDACTED PHONE NUMBER))), leave a message I will gladly get back to you.

I have contacted 4 different people at The Pocono Record and they felt this complaint, although every other day there is an article on Clearview + Slayton was not worthy of ink on paper. Who knows maybe Boulder Creek is a big supporter of the newspaper.

Skip Frey has done additional work since our closing date and has paid a percentage for the work I had done from outside companies. He has compensated some monies towards some mistakes made by his team, others we have to live with. I have agreed not to take legal action against him, my wife who is also on the deed would not sign any such agreement.

Stoney Run builders

AUTHOR: shiry - (United States of America)

I thought I was re-living this night-mare when I read Mr. Autore report. George, Kevin & Matt are very nice people, but should not be in the construction of building homes. It took two (2) years to move in to our new construction home and was left with unfinished work, walls coming apart at the seams, leaking roof.

Holes cut into the walls ceiling and puttie.

This project started in early 2008 & finished at the end of 2010, with work unfinished.

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

False Allegations beset by Vindictive Client vs. Stoney Run Builders

AUTHOR: Matt Crowl - (U.S.A.)

Normally I would not even waste my time responding to such allegations, but being that I have been responsible for the construction of over 400 + homes, and this is my only complaintant.....I must respond!!! The satisfied customers that have had homes constructed under my watch outweigh Mr. Autore's allegations 400 to 1!!!

I am no longer employed by Stoney Run Builders & only respond to this nonsense now , because company officers at SRB declined to respond to this petty nonsense from Mr. & Mrs. Autore. I am writing this rebuttal independently, honestly, & making claim to only what I know to be true. I will lay out facts & only facts as I remember them, and one can decide for himself the truth that belies these misrepresentations.

To clear the record, there is , never was, & never will be any association between Stoney Run Builders (SRB) and Clearview Builders and its owner Mr. Slayton.

Per the sales aspect of this transaction, Mr. Autore brought his own design to SRB to be built as a total custom home. He signed a Contract, Purchase Order, & Specifications sheet which clearly outlined his responsibilities as well as those of SRB. He did put down $5000 as a deposit to start construction & was told that under normal circumstances & site conditions that a 6 month completion date could be achieved. The contract allowed for 12 months due to change of seasons, site conditions, & varying township regulations. Normal protective contractual binding agreements to protect both the builder & the client.

The first issue, if I remember correctly, was that the permit process in the township that Mr. Autore chose to buy his lot & build his home in, was stymied due to issues with getting a construction permit as the septic permit was yet to be isssued. One must first have a septic permit prior to obtaining a construction permit. His lot was pretty much solid rock. He purchased at the time one of the most inexpensive lots available in his respective community due to the fact that it was almost 100% ledge rock. Hence, issue #2 - blasting & rock removal. At that time, the Autore's lot was the lot that in all my years of construction required the greatest amount of blasting. The blaster was there for at least (1 1/2) weeks & his entire foundation, well line, & septic line had to be blasted. Funny, this is the greatest expense he incurred on his lot & he doesn't even mention it in his report. These (2) issue were the only reason that he had any delays in his construction & they were both self induced. Want to blame someone for this.....look in the mirror!!! Mr. Autore was also encouraged to get a bank commitment of (12) months vs. (9) months, but the rate is slightly higher....pay now or pay later as they say....he chose the cheaper rate & left our advice unheeded. A fool & his money go separate ways.

Per his original plans not matching. They were his own. They were not a design that we marketed. We never built anything that he did not sign or initial as he readily acknowledges. We were a custom builder & changes were allowed. New plans are not drawn with every single change. The fireplace as drawn on the set of plans that Mr. Autore brought with him was not to scale. He was given the choice to close down an opening between his kitchen & family room to accomodate the fireplace as drawn incorrectly on his own plans or to put on the outside wall centered in his family room. He chose the latter & signed for it.

As for the statement that it took (7) months to get a correct additional work authorization (change order compilation), this is true. It is a living document that is updated constantly as a client incurs changes. Mr. Autore could not seem to grasp this concept & this was a perpetual complaint from him.

As per his 300 e-mails. Out and out a total lie. There may have been 30 & every single one was given a prompt & professional response. All other statements are pretty much true as per the individuals involved. Problem was that Mr. Autore did not "play well with others". He would exhaust one individual & then go to the next & demand to speak to the next higher up, etc.

Per his lack of response from the Pocono Record (the local paper), there was no story...only his own....and certainly not newsworthy. He was not wronged.

I am truly sorry to have not been able to make the Autore's happy. They are few & far between as far as how I conduct myself. I do find one fact interesting through all of this & share with you this.........Mr. Autore could not even convince his own family. Subsequent to his moving in his new home & after all of this banter.....his mother-in-law & sister-in-law both built a home with SRB!!!! Need I say anymore??
