I was sent to Stony Brook hospital after having a domestic dispute with my family . Needless to say, shortly after i arrived, i knew what i was in for.
They didn't know why i was there Or what i was there for,
They refused to give me my medications that i take on a daily basis,
The janitor, was giving me the middle finger for no reason and cussing at me.
I told the lady behind the glass, and she didnt care. I asked to make a phone call, because i was scared for my life due to this janitor, they didn't care.
Behind the glass, where they are all protected, the janitor kept giving me the middle finger and laughing about it as to provoke me.
But thats not what broke the camels back. After he left, i was walking around, trying to get a little air and exercise in their room.
They decided that i needed to be sedated.
When the people came who were supposed to sedate me i asked them why they were sedating me,
to which they gave no answer.
So i was forced to either be strapped down to the table or take a cocktail of medications . I chose the cocktail, rather than being forcefully injected.
All i did was walk around , and get some exercise, considering i was there until someone could pick me up a few days from then.
They have 7 beds in 1 room. (2 rooms total to sleep in each with 7+ beds in each) They are all disgusting. They have a TV that is encased in plexiglass which is also disgusting.
There was feces on one mans bed and urine on the floor.
I even saw some bugs.
Even the walls were dirty.
Imagine being 18 years old and having to sleep with 50+ year old men. You'd want to get a little exercise outside of the room as well.
There is nothing about this place that you can recommend.
I wanted to call the police so bad.
I was so scared
They did NOTHING for me , nor any of the other people that were there .
They should shut this place down and film horror movies here.

I just wanted to add that this is not the first time that i have visited a place like this . But i never had a bad experience until i visited this place, and the reason i visited this place had nothing to do with psychiatry or psychology , Therefore i was in a pretty darn sound state of mind to judge them.
I have been to several facilities over the course of my entire life .
This one take the cake by far .
The staff will not interact with you except the doctor checking you out which only happens when you are brought in to the hospital insane asylum.
If you are on long island , do not go here. This is by far the worst of the worst, as i said in the title of this, this is worse than Jail. Way worse. Wayyyyyyyy Worse.
I really don't think you understand how dehumanizing this place is
I literally felt like they had possession over me and i was utterly helpless to do anything at all.
This place needs to be condemned .
If you're claustrophobic , lol,
You might as well consider yourself gone if you go here. Thats how tiny this place is, as i said, 7 beds, 1 room , 2 rooms (male and female)
i think this is pretty much Long Island's dumping ground when the police cannot find another hospital to take someone to .
lastly, they had disclosed personal information about me to the janitor who was giving me the middle finger as he was bringing up why i had been brought their .
The majority of the staff is women from what i have noticed.
bottom line is that i would rather be in jail than go here ANY DAY OF THE WEEK!!
Even the crappiest jail beats the tar out of this place .
Reccomendations so you do not have to go through the hell that I went through : Mather Hospital, Brook Haven Hospital, Greenport ELIH hospital, ETC.
You can have your relatives talk to the police department to bring you to which hospital that you want , providing that they are not full .
I still have reoccuring thoughts from this place that are not pleasing almost like PTSD.
