This company continues to prevent my insurance company from purchasing another power wheelchair from another mobility company claiming the unit was purchased in 2003, WRONG!!! That unit was delivered to my home on October 21, 2002!! The medicare contract with this company was to have been null and void, so some one is NOT telling the truth. My arthritis continues to become irritated all because I am forced to walk using a cane. I'm depressed some days because I've no freedom to do anything without that power wheelchair. I'm sick and tired of the games this company and medicare are playing with me and giving me nothing but grief and the brueaucratic run around! I can't even afford a lawyer to go after this company with a law suit.

This company is being investigated by the FBI for the last two years and the Department of Justice has file a law suit against this company, but what good is that doing me? Nothing.

Your viewpoint well taken

Yes, I realize that, but what you don't know can also hurt you. One, I don't need to lose weight. I am a very petite 4'3" tall lady who used to be just shy of 5' when I was younger. I've had rheumatoid arthritis since the age of 4 and at one point it did go into remission for many years and I kept active, however, this disease reared it's ugly head again a couple of years ago.and took over the rest of the joints that were not affect before now. I also have spinal stenosis and scoliosis. The arthritis originally struck the right knee, thus causing major bone damage and causing the entire leg to become 2-2 1/2 inches shorter than the other. This disesase preventd both legs from growing while the rest of my body grew normally and I can wear normal adult clothes.

Secondly, I too, am a taxpayer, not just into Soc. Sec. when I was able to work, but we all pay taxes into the system, WE pay taxes into the government; i.e. property taxes, food taxes, gas tax, sales tax, etc. you name it, taxes are taxes and it all still goes to the government. Uncle Sam just uses fancy ways of breaking down the system and will distribute our tax money the way THEY see fit. That's the cost of doing business. They take our tax money and break it down and put it into special accounts where they feel it is needed most and that usually ends up in their own pockets and incase you didn't know, our elected officials don't even pay into the system, they don't pay into Social Security.

Also, one last thing, what works for you and your mother will not work for somone else. My diet consist of eating LOTS of watermelon through out the summer season among other fruits and vegs. but there is something about watermelon that helps fight arthritis.

Thank you for your comment.

#6 Consumer Comment

Look at it from this viewpoint

What did people do before these chairs were foisted upon us? They walked.

As for the comment about not paying a dime for it, the Insurance did...WRONG! The TAXPAYERS paid for it.

As a TAXPAYER, I wish NONE of these things were paid for out of MY money. You are paying out of pocket for one, so now you get a taste of how I(and many others) feel about this issue.

Now, stop wasting your money on it, and get outside and go for a walk. There are remedies for arthritis. Yes, I have arthritis. So does my Mom. After years of dealing with prescriptions, she tried it my way, and feels much better. At 73, she mows her own lawn(over an acre and includes a pretty good hill) with a push mower. Try to keep up with her, she'll outdistance you.

Lose weight. That's #1 for eliminating pain in your lower body joints.

Join an aerobics class. Low impact motion actually helps keep the joints loose, and has a tremedous effect on your well being.

Take the supplements "lifters" use. The one I use is called Animal Flex. Weight lifting puts enormous strain on joints, so we have to take something to aid in cushioning them. The crap a Doctor prescribes is as useless as ADHD(normal children) meds, and Anti-Depressants(get up and find something to do).

Any company that promises you something for nothing is going to screw you, or someone else. Those have to be paid for by someone.

Good luck.

For Cory in Corpus Christ, TX

AUTHOR: Audrey - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, May 19, 2007

Cory, I didn't pay a dime for my power chair unit with The Scooter Store, my insurance did. Over all, the chair and the repairs were coming close to $10,000. new chair like that should not need repais or parts replaced in less than a month's time. The Scooter Store also gave me the wrong unit, for indoors only NOT both indoor and out door use. Both left me no choice but to use and indoor unit outdoors.

The Scooter Store saga continues

AUTHOR: Audrey - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, May 19, 2007

I am getting more and more furious and frustrated with The Scooter Stores lies and mess that they've got me into. Medicare is still refusing to provide and pay for a brand new power wheelchair from another company, at least until the current contract expires, which is quite possilby next year. I DON'T HAVE TIME TO WAIT FOR THAT CONTRACT TO EXPIRE! Just this week(May 15th) I woke up and could hardly move. My arthritis really flared up this time in my feet and knees making it really difficult to get around. My knees felt like they had "water ballons" between the joints causing pressure and very unsteady legs and using a can alone doesn't cut it.

Now I'm being forced to find other ways of financing a new power wheelchair from another company and on my income, that will be hard to do because I have lost everything else from my marriage. The Scooter Store still has Medicare convinced that it is normal wear and tear on the unit. BULL! I don't even have that unit anymore as my husband tried to fix the gears himself, and I'll give him credit for trying because he almost had it working, but I'm still without the power chair. I've had to sit on the floor and push and pull myself from point "A" to point "B" all week long and even this is not easy when you've got arthritis in your hands too. Someone needs to straighten this out. The power chair unit I had was to be used for indoor use only, what is wrong with that picture!
People, PLEASE, stay away from The Scooter Store!
