I bought a Samsung R355C phone and an Unlimited card thing for $45.00 at Walmart.

My ex helped me set it up, he used to own a cell phone store, the phone worked fine for two days.

Then, I couldn't make any phone calls.  I could still receive incoming calls, I could still send and receive text messages, but every time I tried to make an outgoing call, I got a recording to "contact Verizon Wireless."  and then was transferred (lots of time on hold) to the nice folks on another continent who work for Straight Talk.

I was instructed to read aloud various numbers from the packaging, the $45.00 "Unlimited" card, my receipt, etc.  Fortunately, I work with attorneys, and am trained to be able to instantly lay my hands on any piece of paper.  I did exactly as instructed, repeatedly, and jumped through every hoop with flying colors.    Still, I can't make outgoing calls!

I was instructed to call back from "a different phone" and punch in codes, numbers, etc.

I was told that the problem was their caller ID was showing my phone number as 770 797-1800.

This is Verizon Wireless in Alpharetta, Georgia.  Huh?

Upon reading "the fine print" (contained in the 'terms and conditions' on the company website)  I finally caught on:

Straight Talk is deliberately scamming its customers!   You see, part of their business model is to push "Unlimited!" services as a feature, but in fact, to severely restrict the actual usage of these services.

Picture joining a gym where the pool is always closed,  the fitness classes are always cancelled, and much of the equipment is out of order.   Sorry, no refunds!

Do NOT fall for this company's evil scams!    Can I bet on the likelihood of them getting their butts sued here shortly?   God, they even ripped off the Cricket shade of putrid lime green for their packaging.

Attorneys preparing for the inevitable Class Action Suit(s) against this company, please feel free to contact me!

Whatever assistance I may provide, as you grease the skillet this slimy bunch will fry in, I rub my hands with anticipatory glee at the very thought of providing.

I have documented everything, to the point of recording all conversations with the Straight Talk and Verizon "Customer Service Representatives." and printing out all of their "fine print."

Please tell everyone, even your worst enemies, not to buy from Straight Talk.

I'll be putting up a blog or something soon,  I know for a fact corporations have evil lawyers and efficiency experts who earn millions per year creating new ways to screw hardworking people out of every penny possible.  Heck, I was stupid enough to date one for seven years.   Quiznos is now smashburger, did you know?   Corporate entities and evil lawyers like to change things up frequently; it keeps them from getting caught.

There's no food in my house except ramen and oatmeal, and my cellphone was shut off, hence my attempt at a Straight Talk phone.    To deny basic services to desperate people could result in suicide, and how horrific if someone couldn't even dial a suicide hotline because of having spent their last few dollars on a cellphone that doesn't work, from the very sort of evil company that made them desperately poor and drove them to suicide in the first place.   No refunds for a nonfunctional product,  which in a normal world would provide an essential service--defined as, "Something which a person's very survival could hinge upon."

For God's sake,  can't you soulless corporate types screw people out of nonessential services, like ringtones, or something, to pinch pennies and increase your profit margin, without ruining lives?

Below is  a fun sample of Straight Talk Company Policy.  Note how by purchasing the product, you agree that you are not guaranteed to receive any service, the service you do receive is designed to make them money by limiting your "Unlimited" service (maybe by making you jump through endless hoops...Customers as Sisyphus, the New Business Model!) and there are no refunds.

Just say no to Straight Talk.  Their company name should be, "Straight Talk With Forked Tongue."
