Stuart Allan & Associates, Victim of Identity Theft being harassed by Collection Agency Tucson, Arizona

We were victim of credit card identity theft this year.
This suspecious activity was recognized by the Credit Card company and they did deactivate the account and advised they would be taking care of the necesary steps to notify etc appropriate parties and would be sending us new credit cards.

Unfortunately not all the vendors who had been notified were willing to accept notice from the credit card. Many continued to call at home, refusing to accept our explanation.

We have received call also from a collection agency, both at home and at my office, refusing to accept our explanation. I asked them to stop harrassing us, and to remove the negative credit report note. They denied they were harrassing us, refusing to stop calling and would not remove the note from the credit report. I asked him to send me a copy of the documentation he required for this identity theft verification. He refused and advised he would only be satisfied when we sent him a check. I asked him again to send me a copy of the necessary paperwork and again he refused.

I called the credit card company again, and they took the information to try to resolved once again, as problem appears to be not inaction by credit card co. but due to over zealous collections.

I would like to see some action on improving the verification or recognition of the identity theft problem by this collection agency, in addition to getting this error corrected on my credit report and the collection efforts stopped.
