StubHub - Ripped Me Off

Last week I was planning a very special evening and needed theatre tickets in Atlanta, GA at the Fox Theatre to see the musical "Annie".  We purchased to premium tickets from StubHub.  The two tickets came to just under $400.00 (Four Hundred Dollars).  That's alot of money to me for two tickets, but - as I said, it was a special occaision.

So I gave them my credit card and they charged me for the tickets and sent me an email with a confirmation number.  The person on the phone told me they would arrive via FedEx and that same delivery method was confirmed in the Stub Hub email.

Days went buy and no tickets arrived.  Finally, the night before the event, I called the StubHub 800 number, which was hard to get through - lots of computer prompts and steps to go through to finally get a human on the phone.

I gave them my confirmation number and explained that the next day was the show - and no tickets.

They put me on hold and came back and told me, with no apology that the tickets were sold out and they could not fulfill the order!  Even though they had confirmed the sale and charged me $400!!

No other seats were available, even at lesser prices and locations.  The agent claimed that they had sent me an email.  Now, I'm a high-technology manager and have more than an average understanding of email.  A.  all of the other emails from StubHub came through without a problem  B.  I checked my "Junk" email folder and there was no "mysterious" email from StubHub notifying me that they could not fulfill my tickets.  They simply sold me tickets, took my money and failed to deliver.  Period.

Now my evening was ruined, as my wife was so looking forward to the show (this was her request for our anniversary), and now I had failed to deliver. Actually - StubHub had failed to deliver, but she would be dissapointed none-the-less.

No tickets. No show.

To add insult to injury, now almost a week has gone by and the $400.00 charge is still on my VISA credit card.  So I called StubHub ... again.  And again, I had to go through their clunky phone system and enter my order number and several other steps to finally get a human.  They apologized, but they couldn't help me.  They suggested that I wait a few more days and see if the charge dropped off by itself.

I demanded to speak to a supervisor.  After being put on "Hold" for a while, I was finally connected to "Holly" who apologized, and told that the problem is that the ticket agent I spoke to the night before the show, who notified me that they couldn't deliver the tickets they sold me for $400.00, never cancelled the order.

Now, (that I called and demanded a supervisor) they promised to get around to entering a cancellation order.  I told them I wanted the transaction reversed immediately.  That was this morning and tonight, the $400 charge is still showing on my bank statement, and StubHub has done nothing to fulfill the tickets, make it up to my wife for our missed evening at the theatre and they still have my $400.00!!

If you you are EVER considering using an online ticket broker, in my opinion, you should NEVER do business with StubHub.  They are irresponsible, rude, and will take your money and leave you hanging - like they did to me.

For the record, I have never filed an online "complaint" like this before.  In fact I just created a profile on RipOff Report to make this complaint public, so that others might avoid being scammed like by StubHub the way that I was.

POSTED: Thursday, January 26, 2012

Hello,

My name is Emilee and I am writing from StubHub's Executive Customer Care Team. We would like to apologize for the hassles and inconveniences with your order, and we definitely want to make sure your funds are released back onto your bank account.

As StubHub is an open marketplace, the tickets you purchased did not come from StubHub, but a fan attempting to sell their tickets using our services. As StubHub does not buy, own, or sell any tickets, we will do our best to reach out to the individual who sold the tickets to request they fulfill the order. When a seller advises they can no longer fulfill an order, StubHub will attempt to locate tickets from another individual that are comparable, and if no tickets are available, we certainly guarantee a full refund.

We apologize you did not receive any additional communication regarding your tickets, and for the delay in your refund. We definitely would like to look further into your order. Please send an email to yourfeedbackmatters@stubhub.com with your StubHub Order Number and your best contact information, and we will be happy to reach out to our Payments Team to confirm the release of your funds. We're happy to follow up with you regarding this status.

We'd love the opportunity to make this right for you, and we look forward to speaking with you.

Sincerely,

StubHub Executive Customer Care

This may not be Stubhub's fault.  When Stubhub issues a refund to your credit card, it doesn't show up instantaneously.  Most credit card companies take 3-5 business days to process a refund.  Check back with your credit card company next week, the refund will probably be there.
