I called the American Association for Student Loan organization because they advertised on TV student loan forgiveness and they stated that the could help students with thie loans.

I spoke to Lisa and she took my information, she told me how much I owe for student loans and she stated that she could help. She told me that the best option for me would be the IBR which supposedly is 15 percent of monthly adjusted income.

She said that based on my income at this time I would be responsible fir $70.19 at a 300 payments and I will be forgiven for the rest of the balance.

Okay, well so far so good right? Wrong, she said that $31.00 would go towards the student loans and they would charge a $39.00 fee. O boy okay, well then, how should I proceed, I stated.

I could not believe the worked out of her mouth after that, she said that I would also have  to pay another $599 and she would accept $100 as a deposit.

This is agyer I tokd her about my financial issues.

She told me that they charge that because they offer a service.

Lord have mercy, I am so glad I hung up on her. Run as fast as you can!

My advice, please do not pay a fee to consolidate, it is a ripoff. Try to find a way to get loan forgiveness through other means.  I would provide you with information regarding who to contact but Ido not have that information at this time.

At Student Loan Service Network, we are in the business to help people either consolidate their student loans or get them out of default and then consolidate them into another loan to either lower their monthly payment and/or shorten the term of their student loan.  When a client calls, we ask them the necessary questions to retrieve the clients loans from the Department of Education and then advise them of their options.

We explain to the client there is a one-time $599.00 fee that is for processing and filing the paperwork with the Department of Education.  There is also a $39.00 monthly fee for processing the paperwork annually through the Department of Education.  With this $39.00 monthly fee, our clients recieved added services like Life Lock and a Life Insurance Policy

On the Income Based Repayment Program, which you are referring to, is a program that you as a client, will have to reapply every year with the Department of Education.  In this case, we do that for our clients and also let them know what other loan options they have every year to best suit the clients needs.

This is not a scam, this is explained to each and every client three times during the application process.  If the client agrees to use our services,it is then explained to them again with a Quality Control Call.  You are more than welcome to go to the Department of Education on your own and see how long and arduous that process can be (and continue to be on a annual basis)   Through are service, we relieve you from this process and handle the student loan throughout the life of the loan.

We are a value added service, similar to a tax preparer, in that you can do your own taxes or you can rely on an expert to file on your behalf.  We are experts in the field of Student Loan Consolidation and do thousands of these consolidations a month.  We always give our customers a choice and also our paperwork does indicate that this is something a client can do on their own directly with the Department of Education.  We do not use hard sales techniques, we just do our best to inform the consumers of the options that exist based on Government Legislation recently passed.

Nothing is ever hidden and we are transparent as possible here at Student Loan Service Network
