Ok i am just a kid who got fooled by these people who just don't seem to care about others but themselves. all of this happened one morning the phone rang. usually i don't pick up when i don't recognize the number. i don't know what got into me ,so when i picked up this sweet lady started talking to me telling how i my name got picked in some drawing and how i could win a car and $25000 etc. she told me that i entered because of my debit card ,then started tellin me how i won watch with real diamonds it's free and they will send it to me ,and she told me about the magazine ,she was telling alot in a matter of time. i got confuse she sugar coated everything ,i told her i wasn't sure about all this she said it would be great for me. i mean ususlly i don't hang up on people but i regret not hanging up in her face because of what they put me through right now. finally she told me to say some nice things about her because it's her fist day and her boss was going to ask me how she did.her boss picked up the phone and asked me about the lady i said she did fine then started telling how much the magazines would cost($39.97) a month starting this month which was in October that i couldn't cancel because they pay for the magazines to be sent to me and that instead of cancel the only thing i could do is switch my magazines and get different ones if i get tired of the same ones,of course i was so naive i fell for it. she told me i had to pay right away $39.97 the same day told me to give her my card number but my father had it. she told me if i could get it i said no then i found my check book and i read her the information on the check .the funny thing was that i got a call from them the next day i didn't answer i guess they wanted to tell me that i had to start my payments (i didn't even receive any magazines until late november) i called back days later to cancel and the girl in customer service told me the same thing that i couldn't cancel. there's nothing they could do but tell me that she could break it down for me i could pay $250 now and then the rest later instead of monthly and that i should sent my payments every 30 of the month so that it could reach them every 5th of every month. if i fail to do so they would send me a late fee charge on top of my payment i asked her why ,why can't i cancel i didn't sign any papers she said when you give out you address that's kind of singing something (wow!!!) so i made my uncle call they were saying the same thing.i decided to pay them i payed every month even though i don't have any money i even tried tellin them the reason i need to stop these payments is because am trying to go to school here i have no money and when it's all gone i wonder what they're going to do,am stressed out still haven't gone to school yet my father is constantly on my back because they send me a whole lot of magazines everyday. he can't help pay my school he has his own problems. financial aid is rejecting me telling me to get loans. i don't know what to do anymore.i work at a grocery store am not getting enough pay to let these greedy bastards take my money and everytime i look at my account i cry cause it's so empty and am tired. everytime i put a little money i end up giving it to them they're happy and am not my father told me to stop paying i want to but i don't know what they're gonna do i really dont want a credit bureau to calll me and make me pay these monsters.they said it's 15 months i have till december 2009 to end it with them i don't trust them ,i want this noghtmare to end now . (one more thing i never got that so called real diamond watch soo yeah)

Today 4/25, found out better way to try and fix this, call my card's customer service and got advice. Turns out that chain of seeming nonsensical numbers in between SUBSCRIBERSVC and CO is the phone# but is repeated twice. I call that number to try and get in contact first of all, and I quote: "Hello, you have reached Subscriber Service Incorporated. All of our representatives are on the..." there is a break, then in another voice, "Sorry, that is and invalid entry." Well isn't THAT convenient. The dolts, I input the phone number correctly, although a later attempt seemed to actually work and got through to an automated message telling me their hours. My card customer service rep said I should be able to cancel, and if not, get back in touch to try and get this place blocked. It's less than 72 hours since foolhardily signing up for...if I can't cancel I'll dispute this after seeing what SSInc has done with other people. Using wordplay to try and dissuade someone from trying to cancel, with the only 'proof' of agreement being the recording of the conversation, which my card rep said does entail legality...I'm not sure if it will work, but I have high hopes. On Monday, we will see...

Subscriber Services in FL got me Hook, Line, and 99/100 Sinker

AUTHOR: Ranger1 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, April 24, 2009

On 4/22 I very near identical occurrence; a few free magazines, others of my choice to choose from, a designer watch...and yes even the $25 K line. Only difference in my case this was with what would now appear to be a Florida-based branch and it would come out to $4.61 per week which would be just fine, with the payments broken down into 49.95 for 15 mo for a 3 year subscription. But then about 2 people later ended up as 79.95 per mo for a 5 year. But since I'm in the habit of taking notes during phone calls is pointed out the prior amount and made this known, it was changed to 47.95 and was refunded the balance. (How nice of them). Now normally, I would not agree to anything on phone calls such as this...I got no idea where my common sense went when I ended up giving my card number. Too little too late, as it was not 10 minutes after finally putting the phone down that I realized I had erred pretty bad. I spent most of yesterday after coming home from work keeping a hawk-eye on my account, seeing no immediate change so I figured all was good, since I do remember 'arrival in the mail' and such being mentioned. Again ALSO I was told this cannot be canceled, which is a royal load since I didn't sign to any binding agreement like many a utility bill that requires at least a certain time period to pass before cancellation can be considered.

On a worrisome note, I was NOT given any contact information in anyway, either as a phone number or email, nor did I get the chance to ask in time. (Sometimes I wish I was not so polite when trying to deal with junk calls.) I know a phone number can show up sometimes, so I was hopeful it would be present so I could call and TRY to cancel...it had after all been less than 24 hours. Today 4/24 it showed on my statement with no phone # shown on my card statement which I can check online since I get it through the same place I bank with, and none appeared. But what stood out was SUBSCRIBERSCV CO. Hindsight being what it is and being determined to see what I can find to try and cancel, possibly a phone, I put that line of capitalized letters in minus the numbers and found this place...with similar complaints by other people with almost identical circumstances. The lady on the other end even asked for me to put in a good word and that...etc.

After seeing what others have said about Subscriber Services Inc., I'm not about to risk their trying to pull any fast ones on me, whether THIS one ends up acting legitimate or not. So short of any shipment finally making its way to me after taking its sweet time or getting another call from them, I see but one course of action to fix my moment of stupidity (yes I admit I was for an instant...and should have known better while I went to get my card #). I do NOT recommend this as being for everyone, but because I only owe a couple hundred on my card, as soon as direly possible I will be paying it off with 4 months worth of savings transfers and then have this card canceled...but I will replace it with a new one so I still have that emergency backup of funds. When I do this I will be telling the bank exactly why I'm doing this so hopefully that will cover my back from that angle at least a little.

The only reason I'm prepared to take this action after seeing the reports of a number of people not getting what is said they will be, is also since my credit history is excellent and made up of just my one card (all payments are always within a week early at worst), and on my car which I also dare not pay late. Some of my other bills probably have an impact on my score which may also help since all those are on-time or early paid. So I doubt the only immediate answer I can foresee will have anything more than low-moderate impact since the only place money would be "owed" is to a place that tried and was almost wholly successful in securing a monthly 50 bucks from me that I signed nothing to...other than my voice being recorded no doubt.

When the next due comes, they won't get a red cent any call they might make to me...if I haven't disconnected my 35$ a mo phone I probably use $1-3 worth a month calling with...I'll probably just hang up on them or kindly tell them to shove it. I haven't made up my mind on that matter. Again I do NOT recommend my opinionated solution given that some people caught in these snares no doubt are in tenuous situations with their credit. I might be wrong in doing it this way, but I thank the people who wrote of their experiences with this service in making me see the light just a bit more clearly.
