Bought car at the end of January, only had 10 hrs and had to have it towed back because wiring about caught fire was repaired. Just a few days ago we took car to have front end alignment and to replace tie rods or ball joints on drivers side as it wasn't handling right. Was told by mechanic that car can not be fixed, frame is rusting away. Dan would only make it right if we came up with more money in order to get a different car. Said it was from hitting pot holes. The car was unsafe from day one. It was not inspected as we bought it as is he said he didn't have to inspect it. He told us to take him to court he has deep pockets and he never loses. Not only was this car unsafe for us to drive , which we've been doing with our 7 yr old granddaughter, but it is also unsafe for other drivers on the road. I understand we bought the car as is but all cars being sold on any car lot should have the frames checked. Without the frame the car has no structural integrity.

I retract my statement, and Dan @ Suffield Motors, does take care of his customers, and did the right thing for my sister and brother-in-law.
They are very happy with their new car! Thanks, Dan!

Living in the rust belt.........

Carson City, NV just to avoid this debacle.
Ford was recently obliged to remove from service hundreds of Crown Vic. police vehicles because of serious frame rust damage. This, of course, involved cars within the rust belt which were just a few years old.
Just a totally inappropriate area in which to source an (OLDER) used car !

Apperances can be deceiving

To look at this car you wouldn't think it was a bad car for $1400,and at 76,000 we thought it was a good deal as husband had one for 5 yrs and drove it to almost every corner of the state for work. But as I stated before when the frame is damaged in any way the structural integrity of the car is compromised whether the car is 24 , or 4, and its worthless. The frame on this car has not been good in a long while.

How did such rust pass any inspection?

Didn't you need to inspect the car upon taking possession of it? Or is that not required where you are. As for the dealer, come on, rust so bad that it compromises a car's structural integrity doesn't happen overnight from one lousy winter. It had to have already been that bad when you sold it. Do dealers enjoy dealing with aftermath situations like this so much, that they all have a reputation for doing things like this? You definitely had a couple of real live ones to be able to unload a 1987 Aries for $1400, and you took full advantage. Now go to church on Sunday and sing all those beautiful hymns and shake hands with everyone afterward. Real nice thing to do.

Seriously, you need to check your facts

First, I am the third party person (with Internet savvy) you referenced, but I did not post this rip-off report. The owners of the vehicle did all by themselves. I was waiting for all the facts, before making any statements. In addition, you told me that you had done more for these $1,400.00 customers than you or any other car dealer would do for anyone else (WOW! BUYER BEWARE), and you were the good guy. Originally, I had actually believed that you sold this unsafe (front frame is almost completely rusted away) vehicle unknowingly, however, now all of a sudden there is an safety inspection report for this vehicle! I only have one question, why did you not give the buyers the safety inspection report when they purchased this vehicle? In addition, why did it take all this to get you to acknowledge there was a safety inspection done, as your initial response to the buyers, was you had never looked underneath the vehicle. Before posting a comment, referencing someone, make sure they are who posted the messages originally first, and you do not need Internet savvy to do this.

Frame issues

That's a pretty big deal.
Bet the caravan will need a transmission also, among other things.
SAD...

What do you expect?

Let me get this straight: you paid $1400 for a 1987 Dodge Aries. That's right. A 1987 Dodge Aries. On top of being 24 years old, it's also one of the cheapest, worst-built, least-reliable cars ever produced. I am pretty sure it would not have been worth $1400 even if it was 10 years younger. And you are concerned -- of all things -- about a rusty frame? I am pretty sure the rest of the car will fall apart before the frame does. Next time, I would avoid cars that are 24 years old, if possible. For $3000 or so, you can get a much newer car that will cost significantly less in the long run.

Didn't want car offered
AUTHOR: Sheila Ansel - (United States of America)

The frame on this car was not damaged by potholes but by RUST which was caused by more than one Ohio winter. The third party you refer to is co-signer on the loan for this car so I do have an interest. I'm sorry I didn't mention the offer of the grand caravan. I feel we should have the right to refuse the car no matter the reason if we did not want that type of vehicle.

Not All the Facts
AUTHOR: Suffield Motors - (United States of America)
SUBMITTED: Tuesday, June 14, 2011
The owner of this automobile has had this car nearly 6 months through rough Ohio winters. The consumer verbally told me that he had hit a pot-holes and the roads were rough and thought the vehicle was out of alignment because of it. The said car was a 1987 Dodge Aries for $1400. The other facts everyone should know is that we help our customers. We asked the customer to pay tax, title, license and applicable fees for the new car and they refused and became angry on the phone. We do send our cars out to be safety inspected and the person posting this is not the actual purchaser but a third party who is taunting us by their savvy internet skills. We would like to help all of our customers, but having a vehicle 6 months and then not willing to help with fees on a car purchase that is 8 years newer with less miles is not our fault. Another fact left out of this slandering comment is the fact that we offered them a vehicle for even trade but they refused it due to the fact that a relative had one and circumstances didn't allow emotions to own one. Come on folks, we aren't hard to get along with.
