I heard an advertisement regarding student loan consolidation services on the radio as I was driving home from work in Feb. 2014.  I then contacted the Sunrise Student Loans services in Feb. 2014 seeking a lower payment/deferment for my student loans.  They assured me, after they researched my loan history and information, that they would be able to get me a lower payment.  They actually said they could negotiate with my student loan provider to lower my payments in half.  I was excitied, because I currently could not pay the current high monthly payment. I payed the fee, thinking it was worth it.  I then sent in the loan paperwork they requested, and they sent me a letter and followup email confirmation.

This is the exact email I received on March 7th at 6:22pm from Brianna Madrid (Processing Specialist):

Thank you! We have successfully received your signed and completed Loan Documents. Our Processing team is now preparing your packet to be mailed to the U.S. Department of Education, today.

We will be contacting you again as soon as you are in the “Certification Phase.” This means that the Department of Education has received all your Loan Documents and they are reviewing them. They will subsequently submit a request to your current lender for the payoff balance of your loan. Your current lender has up to 30 days to respond to this request.

Please keep an eye out for our email alerting you that you are in the Certification Phase.

I contacted the U.S Dept. of Ed, and they never received a letter, or notification of any kind from Sunrise Student loans.  All they received was a request in Feb. 2014 for a 60 day short term deferrment.  They asked me if I requested that 60 day deferrment, and I said no..... They thought I did because it said my name on the record as calling in.  The Dept. of Ed. rep was very concerned and said that sounded suspicious, because I did not call that in.  So, it appears as if Sunrise called to just apply for a 60 day forbearance for me, and that is it.  I've been trying to call Sunrise for weeks.  I left messages, sent emails, and never received a call back.

I weas in tears because I really thought I was going to be able to get a handle on my loan payments.  It's unfortunate that people are willing to stoop so low to create a company for the purpose of ripping people off.  There are hard working people out here.

I want my money back, and will get my money back, even if I have to go to the President of the United States or Supreme Court myself.  Companies that take advantage of people should be exposed and striped of their right to provide these services ever again.
