I received a few phone calls on my cell phone (which I believe a company is not allowed to do) and was bugged to buy this magazine subscripion. After a few tries I gave in..mainly because I felt pressured and I wanted them to stop calling me all the time. This was stupid of course....I gave them my credit card info and I was billed $29.90 a month. I moved so I decided to cancel it. I called and they told me I couldn't cancel because I was locked in a 5 year agreement and in order to cancel I'd have to pay $1000!!!! Then he said he'd go half way and I could pay $500. Who in their right mind is going to be like "oh ok here's $500 for u!" I dont remember ever being told this 5 year thing. So I called again to cancel and I was told the exact same thing. Then some lady randomly called me one day and said I was getting a discount and she needed my credit card info again. So I decided to give it to her since I thought I'd be getting this discount. Well I never did.....I went online and found all these terrible things about this company. So I called them again telling them I have read what a scam they are and I really would like my account to be cancelled. The first guy screamed at me asking him if I was threatening him. Come on now...of course I am not happy with u. He then hung up on me after I told him I would bug them until they cancelled it or I would take it to the next level. So I called back and another man answered the phone. He said there was no record that I ever had called to cancel!!! And there was no record of anyone calling to offer me a discount!!! Then he said it must have been another magazine co. that offered me a discount and it's probably on my statement. Um...I see that only sunshine readers shows up on my bill every month. And he said I must be mistaken. How can I mistake your company name!! There is no other name on there!! He proceeded to tell me I must be mistaken which basically felt like he was calling me stupid. Unless he can see my bill(which would not be good) I don't understand why he would say that. Then I told him the same stuff I told the other guy before. He said I already told that to one of his co-workers...but when I first called he said he didn't know I had called before. Well obviously he did if he knew what I said to the other guy! He said (his name is Mike by the way) that I am locked in by a verbal agreement and it is recorded. I asked to hear but that didn't happen. It's just a big mess and I dont know what to do. If anyone can help please let me know! Thanks!
