i had been looking for a red ducati 996 biposoto for a bit of time. b/c the old style was not manufactured any longer i had to search for a pre-owned one. i came upon joe tortora via e-mail and he had told me he had one that was mint. i asked him many questions such as "has the bike ever touched the ground?" "has it ever been in an accident?" "how many owners?" "any cosmetic damage or blemishes?" joe told me that the bike was in mint and this was the second owner. he, however, expressed to me that he sold the bike to the first owner and he has done all the work on the bike since the time it was sold. joe tortora also told me there were no blemishes on the bike and it was in mint condition.

He also said it had never touched the ground and had never been in an accident of any sort. when i asked joe about the owner and why the owner was selling the bike, he told me that the owner was a retired police officer who owned roughly 5 other ducatis and his wife was making him sell one. my brother also contacted joe numerous times with the same questions and got the same answers. i had joe send me pictures of the bike and it looked mint. the light reflected off the paint like none-other. i kept asking joe to send me the vin, and he kept saying he did, but i never received it ahead of time. all his answers were consistent with his previous ones, and the pictures looked great so i figured he was telling me the truth.

i thought everything was good, so i told joe tortora i would purchase the bike. i also told him i wanted a shipping company to ship the bike and he was insistant on having a friend, who is also in the ducati business and has a motorcycle trailer, bring the bike to michigan. i was pretty set on the 3rd party transport company, but joe was insistant on his friend bringing the bike, so i again placed my trust that everything would go smoothly.

when i arrived in michigan, the bike was sitting at the transportation guy's house. i went over to pick it up with a buddy, and the first thing we saw was a cracked left farring. there were alot of scratches all over the bike, and the right side was scuffed up as if the bike had been laid down. i was astonished. i wanted to leave the bike there, but joe made sure to cash my check ahead of time and the transport guy didn't want the bike sitting at his place, so we took it. i called joe tortora and told him what the bike looked like and he acted like it was news to him.

we took the bike to a ducati dealership and a mechanic looked at it. the mechanic said the bike had definitely been laid down while being ridden, and found the odometer disconnected. therefore, there were many more miles on the bike than what joe had disclosed. i called joe out on this as well, and he said he new nothing about that. he also told me i should have used a 3rd party transport to bring the bike over. i told him that i wanted to do that and he was extremely insistant on using his friend. now it all came together.

the mechanic went over the bike and i set up an appointment to have everything done. not to mention i asked joe if the oil change had been done and he told me it had just been done. the mechanic looked at the oil and said that it was past due. wow, so much for business ethics, eh joe?

when i got the bike and saw the state of it i pulled a carfax report and found out why joe wouldn't send me the vin #. the bike had been in a motor vehicle accident back in 2002.

that was pretty interesting, but the cherry on top was when i tracked down the owner, b/c joe wouldn't let me contact him- he said that the owner wanted joe to take care of the selling, so when i tracked down the owner i found out he had never owned a ducati and the bike being sold was his son's bike.

anyway, to make a long story short, the front-end of the bike ended up coming loose when i was on it and i wound up in the hospital for about 3 months. the mechanics who looked at it after i told them what happened agreed i got taken and the lawyers said i should file a law suit against joe. when i brought this up to joe, he told me that if i was going to sew him, i would have to come to new york.

in closing, i did go back over the pictures and every place the light is gleaming off the bike is where the scratches and cracks are. i did bring this to joe's attention and he told me he went over the bike with a fine-toothed comb. when i asked him about the pictures showing the blemishes when you look really close at them, he still tried to lie his way out of it.

AUTHOR: Andy G - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, May 25, 2017

As a consumer, I read this kind of non-sense and it leads me to believe that everything said in this post is completely bogus. Here is why:

1. Anyone who writes a post, in the 3rd person and then blames the content of the post on a friend (?) There is something wrong with you.

2. Why would any friend, care enough, to go through the hassle of procuring such documentation that was only proved to be false by the "REAL" consumer anyway? I have NEVER EVER, had a friend offer to write an in-depth review of a business, "FOR ME". And just to give you an idea, I purchased a brand new Jeep and they didn't put oil in the Wrangler, the motor seized while the car was running in the parking lot. I had purchased a motorcycle in 2003 from another place on LI and while it was being brough out front, someone lost control of the bike and damaged it, but tried to make it my responsibility. I have very, very vocal friends, but why would they invest their life, in my problems?

3. This story wasn't believeable from the get-go and only got worse as I continued to read it. I don't know Joe, I do however frequent his shop and I do so because of many, many local referrals from satisfied customers. I find it hard to believe the caliber of this story.

4. Finally, the story, when unchallenged, was almost like a "BUMP, SET, SPIKE. GAME. SET. MATCH." Once contested, the actual story starts to change and morph. When I was a kid, once the story or "Truth" changed, my grandfather always said, "theres a 99% chance the story is bulls#!t by the time it gets to market." So take what you will from this post, but I haven't ever purchased from Joe.

I found this article while trying to locate the showrooms phone number and couldn't believe it for the life of me. I have had positive experiences with this business and have not had any problems whatsoever. Although my purchases have only been equiptment, I do plan on making a purchase here and when I do, I look forward to further rebuting this entire claim.

Allow the Viewers to Decide

AUTHOR: Jonathan - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, August 13, 2014

To the Viewers,

You've read the posts.  I'm sure if you're looking to purchase a machine of this caliber, you're able to determine for yourself what you will and will not  believe.  Please allow this post to serve as clearing up the waters being muddied.

I am aware of whom Stanley is.  The original post was written by him, because I had told Joe I wanted nothing more, ever, to do with him or his business.  Stanley believed that my experience should be shared, so others don't go through a similar experience.  Stanley urged me, but I declined.  He asked if I would have an issue with him writing a review on a website, and I told him I wouldn't mind.  No Joe, he did not tell me where he was going to write it, and yes I did just find out about this website last month.  Hopefully, for the final time, aside from using 1st person, his review is very accurate.  Yes Joe, there will be some "incongruences," however I believe you meant:  inconsistencies; considering incongruent is the opposite of congruent which refers to math.  However, it just doesn't ADD up why you would intentionally lie to me about the bike not being in an accident, so maybe incongruent is the proper word choice.  I mean the PRODUCT of the experience isn't a positive one, and  the SUM of all variables provides a negative DIFFERENCE.  As for the small inconsistencies, I lived the experience.  Stanley heard my story and felt the need to put it out there.  You, Joe, should be happy he stuck to the facts and didn't blow anything out of proportion or attack your character.  If you would, why don't you tell EVERYONE where this defamation/slander is?  You lied to me, and that was stated.  Nothing else.  Your posts on the other hand, referring to me as emotionally unstable and not of sound mind, along with making all kinds of allegations, when you only know me from our interaction is quite unethical; but it’s good for people to see how you are as a person.

On to the next, Michael.  What kind of individual begins his or her post with attacking another person, of whom he has no knowledge?  Viewers, the company one keeps  says a lot about said person.  I have not attacked Joe in any way, so why is he getting his co-workers and friends to attack me?  I, along with many others, left name calling back in elementary school.

First and foremost Michael, lying and cheating to the insurance company is considered fraud.  I have a copy, of the receipt for the bike, Joe provided to the insurance claims representative.  It was sent directly to the insurance company from Joe, because the claims representative needed it to do the payoff.  I was in the hospital for such an extended amount of time, that my claims representative contacted Joe, and he sent it over.  I actually found it in my drawer a few months ago.

Michael, not everyone is a sue-happy American.  It's a mentality like that, which really soils America's reputation around the world.  I made the decision to not personally look at the bike, and Joe made the decision to lie to me about it.  I have learned from that, and I'm happy that the amount of money I've spent on Ducati's since have gone no-where near SuperMoto Italia.  The sue-happy outlook really is piss-poor.  What's next, lose your job and live off the system?  Have our tax dollars pay for you when you're more than capable of getting a job and working?  That is truly a sad mindset.

Joe's past in the police force was inquired because I was not sure if that was him.  Same name, same area, same profession.  At least I had the decency to inquire before blatantly accusing him.  However, it wouldn't be an accusation seeing as how the entire situation was publically published.

Finally, the intention of my posts is to provide you, the viewers, with assistance when making a choice such as purchasing a Ducati.  The statements I have made are honest and valid per my experience with Joe Tortura and SuperMoto Italia.  Joe, I haven't had to slander/defame you, you have presented your true character.  You have had many chances to present the good things you and your business have done, and are doing.  The only arrangements you have made were getting your little clan together, falsely accusing me of something I didn't due, attempting to bully me to stop sharing my experience (which is the purpose of this website) and then call me names; oh, and misspell big terms but if you really were aware of their meaning, you would have spelled them correctly instead of phonetically, or is that another personality coming into the limelight?  Also, why haven’t any customers come to your defense and stated what a great experience they have had at your establishment? (Beware viewers, watch the time/date stamp.  Be ready for a mass influx of positive customer reviews.)  I could have shared that I have met some New York professional athletes, and 3 of them have said they would never buy anything from you.  One of them told me that they would never even step foot in your door, and another told me that a situation similar to mine happened to one of their buddies, but I chose not to.

In closing, I appreciate you presenting to the viewers a good idea of the type of person you are and the ethics you may/may not possess.

#6 REBUTTAL Owner of company

Stanely or Jonathan?

AUTHOR: Joseph - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, August 12, 2014

I am Joseph G Tortora, owner then and currently of SuperMoto Italia.

You can read my original rebuttal here, and I still maintain all the statements in it as factual, and my accurate recollection of who purchased the motorcycle described here within and by which party(Jonathan D) and the events that transpired following Jonathan D's purchase of said bike.

Which brings me to the most recent, and apparently confused or perhaps bordering on psychitzophrenic, claim as Jonathan D, where he originally made claims as Stanely(as admitted to and referred to in his second claim as a "first person" recanting of false events).

Confused yet? Ofcourse you are, and that is obviously Jonathan D's intention, to first confuse, then re-direct and re-focus your attention on false claims against myself and SuperMoto Italia.

He is hopeing you won't notice the incongruities and lack of chronological continuity between the two stories, that being the first one he wrote as "Stanley" from California and the second and most recent as Jonathan.

If Jonathan wants to maintain that the story is really his and not Stanley's and he is not Stanley, then who is Stanley and why does Jonathan D identify with him so whole heartedly.

If Jonathan's story is the one we should pay attention too, and we should discount Stanley's story then the first and originally filed report should be discounted as false and unfounded as clearly stated in my original rebuttal.

In the end, anyone that tries to create confusion through multiple identities and fabricated stories, and hide their true identity, while slandering another from behind the safe haven and anonnimity of a computer keyboard has no integrity or credibility at all!!

I have always used my full name and identity in this forum, and would be happy to do so any time "stanley"/Jonathan D or Jonathan Dxxxxxx, would like too in any other forum or hearing

As for any attention Jonathan D is attempting to use to discredit me personally, specifically regarding my time in law enforcement, what he claims he read would be clearly publicly available and factual, and one can read for themselves the outcome of a "murderer being captured and convicted" as a result of my involvement in the incident he refers too.

Jonathan D's wreckless and inaccurate attempt to discredit me and my business, including an attempt at inaccurately recounting what he claims "he read in a paper" regarding  a murder investigation during my law enforcement career is slanderous, defaming and a potential catalyst for serious litigation, and I am advising him in this forum to cease and desist as he should consider the potential for him to embroil himself in a self inflicted letigious situation before he continues in the direction he is headed

I wish Jonathan the best in his recovery from his accident, and advise he should end this behavior in this forum and elsewhere immediatly.

So... Jonathan D. aka Stanley is NOT from California?

AUTHOR: Michael - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, August 12, 2014

Here is a great example of an idiot meets internet.

Do you Jonathon D. aka "Stanley from Ca " know that Joe ,Ducati dealer in MI and the transportation company has records of service , transactions and transportation?

All of this happens because you had a one man accident on the road and he refused to write up the damages through the phone so you can lied and cheats  your insurance company?

 How about "defamation of character"?

What you are putting out there has NO merit, otherwise you 'd taken him to court by now.  But instead you  claimed you didn't write this report.  You also googled him and brought up something that you aren't sure of and added to this report to further causes him damages.

Joeseph G. Tortora lied to me to sell a bike. Read below.

AUTHOR: Jonathan - ()

POSTED: Thursday, July 17, 2014

I am Jonathan, and I am the customer whom Joseph G. Tortora took full advantage of to offload a Ducati 996 Biposto.  I was made aware of this website yesterday, and to my surprise my name was being posted all over it by Joe and his dinner guests.  Stanley's recollection of the situation, although written in 1st person, was fairly accurate and thorough.  However, since Joseph G. Torora would like to bring me into this whole situation, allow me to provide you with an accurate idea of what you may expect to experience when considering to do business with this individual.  It is still very clear.

First and foremost, let's look at the ethics.  Rather than confirming I wasn't the individual who wrote the innitial post, Joseph G. Tortora provided my information to who knows how many individuals.  This clearly states that you have no privacy, nor is your personal information held in confidence.  You're an ex-police officer, is this how you conducted your searches while "serving?" Secondly, he has dinner guests writing on his behalf.  This site's intended purpose is to offer information, so others may make an well-informed decision and proceed down a proper path.  I did find other websites out there with reviews of Joe and his establishment, SuperMoto Italia, and the multiple ones I viewed were negative.  Maybe that was his intention for his biased backup.

I contacted SuperMoto Italia in 2005, because Joseph G. Tortora said he did have a Red Ducati 996 Biposto in stock.  I was not contacting him for any affordable Ducati available, and I didn't care too much about the price.  This was during the era of the 999 and I wanted a biposto 996 or 998 due to my 916SP not being able to carry a passenger.

Joe confirmed that he had a Red Ducati 996 Biposto in stock, and it was preowned.  Joe stated that the bike was in excellent condition, had never been in an accident, never been tipped over, and never touched the ground or was laid over.  I asked Joe to feel and tell me about the tips of the grips and foot pegs, and Joe told me that there were not scratches or blemishes.  I asked him about the sides of the tips of the exhaust, and he reported no blemishes.  Joe did state that the only blemish on the bike were two chips on the fuel tank near the steering damper.

I asked Joe about the previous owner and if there were 2 original keys.  Joe did state that the owner was a retired police officer, who owned a number of Ducatis, and his wife was making him get rid of some so this was one to go.  I asked if the bike came with the 2 original keys, and Joe told me that it had only one of the keys.  When I asked Joe about the whereabouts of the second key, Joe told me that he didn't know where it was and most people put it in a drawer and lose it due to only needing one.  I requestioned and told Joe that usually an owner will only have one key due to the bike being in a bad accident or being a salvage title.  I asked him again, with that information stated, had the bike ever been in an accident or touched the ground in any way.  Joe told me that the bike had not.

Joe went on to tell me that this was the second owner, and he new the 1st owner due to selling the bike to the first owner.  Joe told me, Jonathan, if something happened to the bike, I would know about it.  My shop has done all the work on the bike for both owners, and I have personally looked over it.  He went on to change the subject and tell me that if having a second key was that important to me, he would make me a second key and have it sent.  I asked him to make sure to try the key before he sent it to make sure the key was cut properly and he agreed he would.  I also asked Joe if the oil was recently changed and all the fluids were up to date, and he told me the oil was recently changed, and I would not have experience any issues with the bike.  Just start it up and go.

The reason Joe Tortora would say that the reason the bike was for sale was irrelevant might be because the bike was involved in a major motor vehicle accident in 2002.  I have never purchased a pre-owned vehicle, so I wasn't aware carfax pertained to motorcycles as well.  I found this information out after the bike was shipped.

Joe NEVER admitted to the bike being in a "Reconstructed" state.  I was in the Bahamas, when I began speaking with Joe.  No Joe, I NEVER SAILED ON SHIPS, but your lies are very interesting.  Both my brother and I spoke with Joe and the same questions were asked.  The answers were always that the bike was in excellent condition, and it had never been in any type of accident or touched the ground.  I even presented Joe with a sense of not being comfortable due to there only being one key, and Joe told me that he has lied to me about nothing and the bike has never been in an accident of any kind.  He went on to say that he didn't know what else to tell me, people lose keys, but the bike is excellent.

I did ask Joe to email me the VIN a number of times.  Joe kept telling me that he had emailed it, but I had never received it.  I really wanted the bike, so I proceeded to discuss payment and shipping arrangements with Joe.

When discussing shipping arrangements, Joe offered one of his associates who travels and has a motorcycle trailer.  I wanted to utilize a proper transport company, due to having the option for insurance coverage, but Joe insisted on using his friend.  He said his friend could drive it halfway and another guy who worked in MI would be able to pick it up and take it to his shop.  Joe did tell me that this was a prominent dealer in the Detroit area, and it would be good to have him take it and start building a relationship with him.  I was still very leary with the bike changing hands so many times, but Joe said he would get a "sweet" deal worked out for me and it would cost very little compared to the alternative.  I finally agreed.

My brother had no part in the transaction, other than speaking with Joe iinitially to see if his story matched with mine.  I arrived at this "dealer" with a buddy with whom I would go to the track.  This wasn't a dealer.  This gentleman, although may have been very knowledgeable of working on bikes, had a garage next to his house and the inside was jam-packed with motorcycles and a layer of dirt and dust convering them.  This was the farthest thing from a dealer I had ever seen.  Nothing against the guy, he was very nice.  However, Joe setting expectations and exagerating words to get me to agree to something I never would have if he was just honest.

We started the bike up and it took a bit.  While it was warming up, we did a walk-around.  What we found was less than "excellent."

Front fender was scratched, with deep scratches.

Right fairing was scuffed.

Left faring was cracked.

Mirrors had been replaced.

The rivets on the side of the exhaust tips were scuffed.

The tips of the pegs were scraped.

I was less than pleased.  The guy at the garage told me that this is exactly how he had received it, and when I wanted to leave the bike he told me he would charge me storage.  I took the bike, and when I got back to my place, I called Joe.

The bike wasn't running well, so I asked Joe about that.  My buddy only rode Jap. bikes, so he thought it may not have been running on all the cylinders.  I purchase the bikes and ride them, I leave the technical aspect to the service expert.  Joe told me that the gas may just need to be run through.  When I pointed everything else out to Joe, he denied everything saying that the bike had been gone over with a fine-toothed comb and there was nothing wrong with it when it left the shop.  He said he would work with me on replacing the fairings at a discounted price.

When I asked him about the scuffs, Joe told me that some people have to squeeze the bike into the garage and it may have been laid agains the wall.  I told Joe that that was unacceptable.  When I asked him about the front fender, Joe told me that was normal wear and tear.  I told Joe that this is a Ducati.  Who in their right mind would care for a bike like this?  Joe told me that it's normal wear and tear and nothhing to worry about.  Contrary to Joe's recollection of my follow-up phone call, I was very unhappy with the condition of this work of art, and I expressed my disappointment to him.  Joe told me he would get me a real good price on anything I wanted to purchase for replacement.

The following day I took the bike to a service garage with serviced Ducatis.  The technician came out, and right off the bat told me that the bike had had some serious work done to it.  He proceeded to point out how he could tell.  He went on to point out that the odometer had been disconnected and stated that it was very likely I'm getting many more miles than what I was told.  He also looked at the oil, and stated that it was filthy and far past due.  He asked where I got the bike, and when I told him, Joe at SuperMoto Italia, he asked, "Joe Tortora?" I said yes and all he said was "Wow..."  He also noticed that the steering damper was on backwards.

When I purchased the bike, I figured it was time to update some of my helmets.  I requested 2 Snell approved helmets.  I was sent an AGV, and one DOT.  The DOT was the wrong size, so Joe did do an exchange for me and sent me the proper Snell in replacement.

About 2 weeks later, I was going around a right-handed curve at 33mph.  The speed limit was 40mph.  It was a 2-lane road and in the middle of holding the line, the front end began to shake wildly.  It took me into the woods, and my next stop was the Emergency Room at the hospital.  There was no deer or sand on the road.

I had nothing left on order with Joe.  My buddy originally was going to order an Arai racing replica helmet from him, but after everything that had happened, trust was lost.  So, no Joe, I had all my helmets and had nothing left on order with you.

I wanted nothing further from Joe G. Tortora, however this website is a great find.  I realize I made a decision to proceed with this transaction, based on an emotional attachment and desire.  If the sharing of this experience saves only one other person all the headache, it will have done some justice.  I remeber reading in a paper about a Police Officer Joseph Tortora leaving his keys in his police car which almost lead to a murdeerr getting away.  Not sure if this is the same Joeseph Tortora, or if the force is full of "Joseph Tortoras," but just becasue you represented the law, doesn't mean you're above the law.  I have owned many Ducatis since, and I'm proud to say none have been purchased at SuperMoto Italia.

What does it really say about a dealer who can't have unbiased patrons provide reviews, but rather dinner guests offer character witnesses?  Your ethics are in question, and your facade will eventually turn against you.  You use the terms Slander and Defamation.  You won't scare me from sharing what you did to me with others looking to enter into a similar contract.  You know you took advantage of me, due to being such a far distance away, and you know you provided me false answers to questions I asked you repeatedly.  There is no excuse you may offer which will excuse the behavior you presented.

I am a close friend of Mr Tortora

AUTHOR: Yvett Brett - (United Kingdom)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 03, 2008

My, complaint is on mr. Stanley (Jonathan). How dare he smear and Blacken a clever and good man's name with his smattering. If he understood the racing area, he would respect the bike he was very lucky to purchase, and show more respect for Mr. Tortora. This bikes are rare and only seing in certain fields. I think Mr. Tortora has justified himself fully and well, including the bikes condition, and reasons for it. As for Mr.Stanleys accident with the deer and the sand, 'well'? Mr. Stanley almost all accidents happen due to skids on sand; having a racing bike should make you a more carefull rider, this comes with skill and of course experience, which you need to be. To be the owner of such a bike. I think your time maybe has come to go and join the little boys gang and live the big boys to play and learn about there area without having your sewerage blackening Mr. Tortoras name; personaly I think it is your name that has the big question mark attached to it. You are a scandalmonger and you should take more care, and learn a bit more, if you want to grow and become as big as Mr. Tortora. Mr. Tortora is a GENIUS in his field, he understands engines and bikes as a heart specialist of a professor in the highest rank, would understand and explain a human heart's circulation. I was invited to Mr.Tortoras home for dinner, and there I met his family and they are good people with high principles and healthy standards as is Mr. Tortora. However I do wonder about yours Mr. Stanley (Jonathan). Would you be after compensation because of luck of skill on your part, on being UNABLE to ride or understand this powerful machine, and NOT knowing how to make it to the bike of your dreams? You have no one to blame but Your desire to be better than you are. This is a human beings problem; Learn about it and move on and apologise to Mr. Tortora. yvett brett brighton

Very hard to believe this happened!!!!

AUTHOR: M. Wilson - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, August 24, 2008

I am a customer of Supermoto Italia. In all of my dealings with Mr. Tortora, I have never experienced him to be dishonest in any way. As a matter of fact, I would never question his integrity not only as a business owner but even as an individual. "Stanley" has written a letter that clearly does not state the full story (if it really did happen). I dont think anybody in their right mind would buy a high priced used motorcycle from the opposite side of the country based on a "picture" without ever researching the vin.

I think there is more to this story. Mr Tortora actually has been someone to make sure that "t's" are crossed and "i's" are dotted. The validity of this "Stanley's" letter and story I do question to the fullest. I am a very happy customer of Supermoto Italia and would never think of taking my business elsewhere when it comes to Italian Motorcycles. I am a very picky consumer and know that Mr. Tortora is one of the few that would ensure that I remain a "happy" customer. Stanley's spelling is as horrific as his ability to sell this story as a believable one.

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company

Defemation and False Identity of Claiment

AUTHOR: Joseph - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, June 14, 2007

I am Joseph G. Tortora, owner of SuperMoto Italia (631)584-4340.

The allegations in Report: #201464, are false merely by vertue of the individual NOT using his true name. His true name is Jonathan D, not Stanley.

Jonathan contacted SuperMoto Italia asking about any affordable Ducati motorcycles for sale. I advised him of one that was in "excellent used" condition, not NEW or Perfect. We provided all the information and photos up front.

The bike did in fact belong to a Retired Police officer who in fact is a personal friend of the store. Contrary to Jonathan's (AKA Stanley) statements the Officer is not married and his son is 10 years old(hardly capable of owning a Ducat996.

The bike was for sale, and why it was, is irrelevant. Jonathan asked if the bike had a clear title(no leins) and asked if the bike had anything that needed repair - my answer was no. I further said that it had a NY state Title that had "Re-constructed" stamped on it because of a lay over and fairing replacement through an insurance claim in 2002, and a replaced brand New fairing on the right side.

Jonathan had his brother call to arrange payment and shiping details, as Jonathan was a sea hand on a ship at sea.

I advised his brother of a dealer that I was familiar with local to them in Michigan, and he would be willing to transport and keep the bike there for a small fee.

When Jonathan and his Brother picked up the Ducati 996 in michigan, they called complaining that the bike was only running on 2 cylinders, I said that is correct. They were upset and asked why it should not be running of all 4 cylinders, and I further advised that Ducati 996 motorcycles are a L-Twin (2 cylinder) power plant.

It was apparent at that moment that Jonathan and his brother were unaware of any aspect of the powerful racing type (2 wheeled Ferrari) they had purchased. Further they sounded like new, inexperienced riders.

1 week later Jonathan called to buy a helmet, and said he was enjoying the bike, and would I give him a nice deal on a new helmet. I ordered the helmet at his request, and when it arrived a week later, I could not get a hold of him.

For 2 weeks I left messages daily, and finally received a phone call from him while he was in the hospital, after crashing his Ducati.

He explained that he crashed trying to avoid a deer, and hit sand totalling the bike. He further asked me if I could write a valuation of the bike for insurance purposes, and I advised him to see his local dealer as they could inspect the damages from the accident.

Regarding a carfax report - It would have confirmed that prior to the purchase it was damaged and an insurance report was made, however by vertue of Jonathan having the title in hand(with "Recunstructed" on the title) prior to the receipt of the motorcycle - this alone shoots holes in the chronology of his discovery by carfax of prior accidents. Further any state inspected vehicle stamped "re-constructed" on the title undergoes stringent scrutiny, and therefore is deemed fit for safe operation on public roads once the "re-constructed" title is issued.

Hence Jonathan's reluctance to get an attorney involved, as his accident was his own lack of riding/ownership experience combined with an unfortunate set of circumstances (deer & sand).

My only guess as to why Jonathan (stanley) has made this report is out of bitterness in a short lived ownership of a Ducati motorcycle and a lenghty stay in the hospital. Perhaps he thought we may be obliged to replace the bike somehow?

I am sorry for his unfortunate situation, but regardless of his reason for filing this report, I find it in-cohesive, choronologically incorrect, slanderous and defaming of the good reputation of SuperMoto Italia and myself.
