The first time I used my Upside debit card, I was downtown and entered what I thought to be a correct pin number. It didn't work, so I tried a few others and later verified that original pin number I used was a correct pin number. When I got home and back online, I noticed a few $2.00 deductions out of my account and $.99 for everytime I tried to check my balance. I had a lot of personal business going on at the time and did not look into it further. My mistake.

A few weeks later - again downtown, I was unable to withdraw money from my account although I could use it as a charge with no problem. I went from one ATM to another trying to get the money because I needed it for public transportation. I was stranded downtown! I live 13 miles out of town!

The ATM continued to state "incorrect pin number" when  in fact, the account had been frozen! I managed to make it over to a cousin's house and called the 866 number for which I was charged $3.00 for an 866 number to be told my account had been frozen due to an incorrect pin number being entered and that it would last for 24 hours.

Now, get this, the woman also told me that I could get cash by using the card as a charge and getting 20.00 over the amount. I thought great and I thanked her only to find out when I tried it at the gas station, that it is illegal for the merchant to do that.

The ATM it simply stated I had entered an incorrect pin number. It did not indicate my account had been frozen. I've never experienced this type of account "frozen" procedure over an incorrect pin number before. This system tricks you into re-entering your pin number because you know it's right. They charged me $2.00 x 6!

Over the past few months, I've sent 3 email to them and they answered not one. However, they charge $3.00 for the phone call to talk to them over the phone.

In my last email my complaint was about my PayPal account. I had attached the Upside account as my bank for my PayPal account. In fact, that's the only reason I signed up for the Upside account so that I had a bank account to attach to PayPal. When PayPal tried to put through a measly $11.00 for which there were plenty of funds in my Upside account - Upside denied it. When I sent the email, of course they didn't respond. Instead they did this:

Adjustment Debit Direct Deposit – Paypal Echeck - -$2.95

There is no PayPal Echeck. And, there certainly is no direct deposit from PayPal to this phony business called Upside. None.

Now, in addition to all of this, there is another issue. I am on unemployment in Oregon. I used the Oregon US Bank card for unemployment. About a month ago, I asked the US Bank people to transfer money to the Upside account so that I could send a check for my rent. My car was in disrepair and I would have to walk four miles to the nearest store to get cash to pay my rent. US Bank did attempt the transfer and was not able to do it. I didn't get the phone call from US Bank and I was left with  no way to pay my rent. So I walked to get the cash. At the time, I blamed it on US Bank. So I asked Unemployment to direct depost my check into the Upside account which they did.

I now realize that was yet another trick on the part of Upside. I'm furious - these is fraudulent business practices and it needs to stop.

They have left me no choice but turn them into the Attorney General's office of the State of Oregon for online fraud. I told them in my last email that if those multiple $2.00 charges were not reversed, that I intended to turn them in for online fraud. What did they do? This:

Adjustment Debit Direct Deposit – Paypal Echeck - -$2.95

That's quite an answer for a customer service complaint - a charge for a service that doesn't exist.

I am a consumer that is way beyond furious and I intend to see this through to conclusion.
