I drove for Swift for about 1 and a half years, and recently quit, due to lack of pay for miles (drivers get shorted anywhere from 50 to 100 miles per trip),poor management and planners, and was tired of begging to get hometime. I usually stayed out for 4 to 6 weeks on my own doings (so those who are suck ups know that I wasn't a slacker by no means) only to find myself begging to get home when I had put in for it at the same time I left. I missed 2 holidays in which I had planned to be home for I had been out for 6 weeks prior to the holidays, and didn't get home til the day after the holidays were over. I missed seeing family in which had came from other states to see me for these holidays costing them money and time that they could've spent better had they known Swift would not give breaks to their hard runners.

Not only this just before I quit I was sent to repower a load from another driver being told that his truck was broke down, when I arrived the other driver was asleep with truck running. After we had exchanged trailers the other driver approached me to find out if i had been let known about the trailer brake lights not working.

He went on to tell me that he was waiting for onroad to contact him as he had done an onroad report, he also pointed out that a police officer had pulled him and let him know about the lights, and that if the trailer were moved any futher he would get a ticket.

I know that he had done an onroad report as when they contacted me after I had done one they had his truck # in their response. After this the mechanics couldn't find the problem, but the lights had came on driving to their shop (mechanics behind me)I was told to continue on that they weren't going to pay for them to find the problem.

Luckly I made it ok,and was asked to drop the trailer at another location so that it could be reloaded,i went on to drop the trailer, but disconnected the lights so that the next driver wouldn't go through any troubles.

All of this came after I had passed a level 3 inspection with no violations, you would think that a company like Swift would take better care of a driver that did his job accordingly, instead they let their management and planners play games with those who are willing to do their jobs.

Jerry came up with the "Raise the bar" code but who is going to see that code is met? As for the drivers still working for them I hope you wake up before you get caught in their nasty little game, if it's not happening to you then you need to wipe that spot off of your nose as if you can't smell it!
