Swift Transportation/ South Carolina Terminal/O.Banks DM(Dec,Ga.) Complete Disregard For Driver Safety/ Created False Documents For Traiming Not Completed. Decatur/Greer Georgia/South Carolina

Dale Detman,fleet manager at the Swift Decatur Terminal has made entries on my DAC report that are outright lies to discourage other companies from hiring me. I have been trying to gain employment since 12/07 with my CDL and have wondered why all these companies cut off contact with me after they received my report. In all honesty,if I was a trucking company,and based on what was in that report,I would'nt hire me either! Mainly,they put that I was incapable functioning on my own as a solo driver! I only drove for Swift for a few months but in that time I drove across the U.S.(tip to tip) Florida to Seattle,Maryland to San Francisco,Delaware to Utah and much more & never a late pickup or delivery. No tickets,no accidents,nothin! He also said that I was averaging 100-200 miles a day! Im the kind of driver that once Im behind the wheel,its on! However many hours I have available, Im driving'em. I'll pull over on the side of the road,pee in a bottle,poop in the woods,eat me a sandwich,drink me a be,soda(lol)and Im gone! He also wrote that I did'nt answer my qualcomm in a timely manor on occassion. Im supposed to pull over on the grapevine or donners pass to answer it? Yeah,right! He also put that I was terminated and unrehirable. How're ya goin to fire me and I quit! Cant someone tell me who can I contact to get this removed from my DAC.

I applied for a local driving job with Swift along with2 other experienced drivers plus 15 out of school drivers. We experienced drivers had the same recruiter who told us that a particular local job was available. We went the 1st day to get our drug screens and physicals done then sent home. @nd day we watched a bunch of films and heard the normal BS. The 3rd day we got to ask questions. We were told that no such local job has been available for nearly 4 months as they lost it to another carrier. The starting pay was not what we were told and neither were the benefits but we could go into their OTR fleet until something came up. When the 3 of us started complaining they said we must have misunderstood the recruiter. Yeah right. I brought the ad in that day and showed it to him. We were told to take their offer or leave. We left. Guess what? My DAC report shows I worked for them for 1 month and was a no show on every load. I kept in contact with the other 2 drivers and found they had the same thing put on theirs.Thank god I have 25 plus yrs of experience and found a better company locally. Just keep your head up and take our advice. Explain your reasoning to a new company, most know about Swift and their tatics

Swift has a history of treating people just like they treated you. I hate reading stories like this, because it truly pains me to read how the lives of people simply seeking a decent job, are ruined when their new career hits a dead end. I wish people considering them would find all the posts like yours, and that it would give them reason to forget them as a job prospect. Even better, I wish that company would bankrupt.

I wish I had some sound advice, or a quick fix to offer, but the truth is that there is nothing that can be offered that would help you easily or quickly.

If you are serious about wanting to drive a truck, and I think you are, I might have some advice that may get you back on track, but it will mean basically starting over.

Schneider National Carriers (Google 'em - this site doesn't like links in posts) offers a far superior training program, well trained and screened mentors, better overall pay and benefits, and the best chance of success and longevity for newbies.

I would advise you to contact them and request them to send you an application by mail. Don't do one over the phone or over the internet. And there's a good reason why I offer this advice.

Prepare a letter explaining what you went through during your brief time with Swift, and all that led up to what led you to terminate. Don't go into lengthy diatribes...but hit all the highlights and explain that you tried your best to hang in there, but frustration got the best of you on the day you left them. Express your desire to want to work in trucking, and that you are willing to start from scratch if need be. Carefully fill out the application for employment and all the rest, leaving no blanks, and be perfectly honest on the application, and then send it in with your letter about your Swift experience.

Give it a few days to get to them, and then follow up with a phone call to see if it arrived. It may be at that time that their recruiters may want to speak with you. If not, give them a few days...and they may call you.

If by chance you happen upon another company that appeals to you, apply for it in the same manner described above. By being able to get your side of events on record FIRST, before they find Swift's reference, it gives them reason to consider you fairly. Being honest and up-front about potentially negative issues goes a long way with people who hire employees. Most people who make hiring decisions in the trucking industry are well aware of Swift's reputation for giving poor references to people who quit them. Trust me, you are one of hundreds of thousands who have been treated the same way.
