Yes I was a newbe and I wal lied to from day one then I got my trainer and what a joke the first night I got on the truck I was telling the trainer that the windshield was so dirty I can not see out of it and he told me just to keep driving at this point I was having such a hard time seeing that he told me that I need glasses my vision is 20/20.
We stop for fuel and I decided to clean the windshield and my trainer got mad at me for cleaning the windshield he told me that its my truck dont touch it. I lasted with him for one week. I went home got night time glasses which did help but cleaning the windshield when he went to the bathroom did help alot. Then I got another mentor and he was nice at first then things started to change fast.
1. he had me drive over the speed limit even though the truck would only go 65mph but in 55 I was demaned to got 65 to get the the next stop. then he got mad at me in the mountains that I was driving to slow I was doing what the speed limit said 45 in a 45 even though I should have gone 35. He told me to go 65 on hwy 6 through the mountains and I did it I got from slc to gypson co. in 6 hours he said I did good and in the same breath he yelled at me for being a unsafe driver.
2. He got mad at me for slowing down for rail road crossing to check for trains he made me go through without slowing down. And he used my log book. 3 He also never had time to train me he was always in a hurry I can keep going on but I quit swift this was the worst time in my life.
Do not got to work for these people they dont care also my pay was wrong.

Swift just got a 37 million dollar verdict against them in the case where a driver crashed into a pick-up and killed an occupant. This happened in KS I believe it was 2004. They could not produce the driver's logbook. I know they settled for 5 million in a MO case that happened in 2005. Wow! Two cases, 42 million dollars. All that profit going into the pockets of poor people who were victims of this grossly negligent company. You think the powers to be would see the light and focus a little on safety....like not letting people with 6 months of experience train new drivers...but what the hell....Jerry's pockets are deep.

I know how the trainers are. I had one back in 2003 just like that one. Tried to use my log book also. I think we the ex drivers of Swift should get the DOT in Washinton to check the trainers out about the log book stuff they pull. I like to get a video of the Swift trucks pulling into the truck stops. Then have them checked for log book problems. I bet the log book would show they are lieing big time. I know the game and they play it big time. All Swift drivers should really check the tires and things out better. This would cost Swift big time and mybe they will do a better job.

Yet another report of this piece of crap company and its crap " training ". Be a mentor after 6 months!!! Make all kinds of money!!! One has to have 4 years of college to teach 1st grade but with Swift you only need 6 months to train someone with a 65mph, 40 ton machine. I have seen many of Swift's mentors and it really scares me that they are out there "training" drivers. Even the people in the Safety department dont have enough experience to pop a pimple on a real driver's a*s. But the powers to be in Swift do not care about safety or lives of their drivers, their concern is with the almighty dollar. Check out the degrees these executives hold....what the hell do they know about driving??? And you Swift drivers that do love this company.....ask Jerry what he pays his drivers at Central. You might be surprised.
