While browsing for computer bargains, I noticed in the Search results a link to "Washington News Daily", alleging a report on an Internet auction site (http://washingtonnewsdaily.com/).  DO NOT CLICK ANY LINKS if you look at the site.

"Swipe Auctions" has a busy website full of clutter, but looks "reasonably" harmless.  I decided to register (ya, I know) since it was free and look at what was listed on their auction.  You enter typical e-mail information, and they ask for a credit card as you purchase items directly from your account.  I then briefly looked at the auction pages (a lot of Gift Cards and a few items like iPods and XBox players).  I logged out, went to my mailbox, and there was an Alert from Chase Bank about possible fraudulent charges... within like two minutes of my registering!  There was a $138 charge from Germany.  I contacted Chase Bank Fraud Division, and denied the charge, and requested that credit card account be closed for protection.

I went back to the website to access my Account and delete or change Account information.  There is no telephone for these crooks, and you have to use Live Chat to speak with anyone.  They would not cancel my credit card on file (it's canceled anyway) unless I provided them my address information, etc., which I wasn't about to do.  I changed my home address, which probably did nothing as they undoubtedly have my original entry, and my password (same).  You can't delete anything in your Account information screen.

I then went back to the "Washington News Daily" website, thinking perhaps someone was scamming using their site, and inform them of this activity.  NONE of the site's tabs work, other than the "Swipe" links.  So, that site is a bogus link to Swipe Auctions.  One of the links stated Swipe Auctions was located in Colorado, but if you look at their website, it refers to an address in Surrey, England.  "Too good to be true" is a great statement here.  Stay away from these rip-off thieves!  You've been warned!
