A handsome young man, named Scott Kellogg, came to my door stating that he was selling magazines to win a trip to Cancun. He stated that "the girls" were selling magazines to win a trip to Paris. He stated that his father was fighting in Iraq and that many customers ordered magazines to be sent to the military. He stated that his mother was a nurse anesthisist at Waccamaw Hospital. I ordered 3 magazines, 1 for myself and 2 for my best friend's granddaughter.  I wrote a check to SYN, Inc. which he said would be cashed on September 9, 2010. He left a completed order form from another customer here and when I tried to contact him, the 2 phone numbers he left had been disconnected. He had used my cell phone to call his "brother". I used that number to call and got a man who said he was in charge of the sales people to make sure they were doing a good job. He said he would send Scott over to pick up the form and thanked me for calling. This was on Friday, 8/27/2010, and today is Sunday, 8/29/2010 and I have not seen or heard from Scott.

Something did not feel right about this. When I checked out SYN, Inc. on-line, I found that this is indeed a scam company. On the back of the form, it states that a canellation may be made in writing and postmarked within 3 days of the order. I typed a letter to the company, signed it, and dated and signed the back of the order form, as instructed, and mailed them the day following my order. I will have to pay my bank at least $30.00 to cancel the check, which was for $174.00. I will do this in the morning.
