I purchased a phone to add to my exsisting line and it came with a rebate offer. I purchased the unit to add the new line to an exsisting line...well, it offered $50.00 rebate either way. But i applied for the rebate. I received a letter that i did not qualify. I called and was asked lots of questions, they said someone made a mistake when entering my information.

About 4 weeks later i receive another letter stating that i do not qualify, i called again and was told their had been a mistake in the dateentry and i would receive the rebate in 4-6 weeks.

About 3 weeks lateri received another letter, and again i went through the same process. This time i spoke with a supervisor. She said thier was nothing they could do.
She gave me a number to call and i did...well, i told them i was going to contact the BBB and the FTC, (I also mentioned that Sprint had a simmular problem and they were taken to court with the same issue, Sprint in return had to pay money that should of gone to their clients.) I also told them i was going to contact the USPS and the some other government office to report the fraud, they immediately went ahead and credited my account 50.00 for the trouble i had endured. Don't give in at all, keep calling, the company makes enough money on us.

As I do not know the specifics of your case I cannot say anything specific but I imagine what happened is you purchased a phone and "could qualify" for a discount, or rebate of 50.00. It sounds like you were declined upon further review but they were afraid to tell you so. This something was messed up during data entry is complete non sense. Data entry does not come into the equation as its nothing more than handset upgrade looking at your account and determining whether or not you are eligible. I imagine you did not qualify, but as you pointed out if you push hard enough and speak to the right person you will get what you want as to avoid further calls and more hassle.
