Took 2 trucks to Tabernacle transmission to be rebuilt(transmissions). Dropped off my 1994 F150 first(transmission was acting up). Picked it up and dropped off my 2000 Mountaineer(shifted ok just high milage). When I got the F150 it leaked fluid from the front seal so I took it back. After a few days it started leaking again and shifting from 3 to OD was erratic. Dropped it off again and mech said he used a different seal. Leaked again and Mech said he replaced the front pump and torque converter at no charge and used a new type seal and put a diesel solenoid pack in it(which makes no sense). After a few days it still shifted erratic and even got worse. I looked up under the truck and the transmission wiring harness was just hanging and the clamps had been snapped.

The connector on the side of the transmission had been broken and would not seat and stay connected. I had another transmission shop look at and they found the valve body had 1 screw stud stripped out and not tight and 1 nut lying in the bottom of the pan. They said the pump and converter did not look new and the solenoid pack was just a stock used version. In the meantime my mountaineer started to get sloppy 3rd to OD shifts and slip from 1st to 2nd. Looked under the hood and found EGR bracket not bolted up and loose screwws. I guess for $1000 per rebuild, thats what I get. The other transmission man said just the bare essentials where replaced and that was it. I am not taking my mountaineer back because it just seems useless. Using a major transmission shop now and it cost but,,,,you get what you pay for.

This man has no clue of transmission repair and if he does then he is putting wrong or used parts in! My 1994 E4OD had a 1996 solenoid pack in it which is very different and will destroy the ECU because it has no diodes to protect it like the 1989-1994 solenoid pack.(My ECU was bad after transmission repair/caused by wrong solenoid pack). It (1996 solenoid pack)also has extra bleed hole which bleeds off fluid pressure if installed on a 1994 Ford E4od and will cause shifting issues. 

This transmission has been gone thru since then as originally stated and again, found used parts/loose bolt and screw and also found valve body bolts over torqued and transmission case warped. Torque converter went bad after that(about 11,000 miles) probably due to low line pressure and clutch burn up. I did call him on at least 2 occassions and left message( I work 12 hr swing shifts so unless I take time off, it is hard to call during the day) Mountaineer had new servo/piston and spring installed and valve body rebuilt. All is ok now after $3200 dollars. You get what you pay for!!!!!

Customer brought 1994 F-150 for a simple soft part overhaul. Transmission was rebuilt and installed new shift solenoid pack, torque converter, boost valve and shift improvement kit.  Road test and leaked checked customer was called for pick up.  At that time customer requested a transmission overhaul on his 1999 Mountaineer.  Customer dropped off Mountaineer and computer diagnostics were performed on vehicle and code C1230 (Rear speed sensor circuit fault ) & P1464 (A/C demand out of range)  Both codes are on repair order. Customer picked up F-150.  While the Mountaineer was being repaired customer called 3 days after pick up and stated that the f-150 had a leak.  Customer was told when the mountaineer was completed to drop the F-150 off.  The Mountaineer had a soft part overhaul with a torque converter. 


Customer returned with F-150 vehicle was leak checked and it was leaking from front seal.  Transmission was removed replaced front seal and pump bushing and transmission was reinstalled.  Vehicle was cleaned of transmission, road tested and returned to customer.  Sometime later customer called and stated that the vehicle still had a leak and an erratic torque converter problem.  Customer was told to drop vehicle off and checked for repair.  Transmission was removed and replaced solenoid body (Includes TCC solenoid) valve body was completely checked, installed new pump washers, pump gasket and O-ring, front seal and bushing and torque converter.  Vehicle was cleaned and road tested and was returned to customer.


Customer called sometime later and said that it was still leaking this time we replaced complete pump assembly.  Throughly cleaned and road test was performed.  Vehicle sat long periods of time running to verify leak was fixed and vehicle was returned back to customer.  At this point the customer was not charged for any repairs beyond the initial cost.  All work was completed under warranty.


Several months later customer called and stated on his way home from work vehicle stopped moving.  Customer was informed to return vehicle and any and all repairs would be taken care of at no cost.  At this time also stated that the 1999 Mountaineer was running Perfect with NO problems.  That was the last time the customer was heard from, until this report was posted.


We understand the vehicle did have a problem with a leak, but after the repairs were made we believed the problems were corrected.  It's unfortunate that the vehicle had to be returned 3 separate times for a leak, but I am only human.  I repair many cars and for 1 to come back with a problem is sometimes to be expected due to part failure etc.   We have been in the transmission business for 23 years, 10 of which we have owned our own business.  We have an impeccable and reputable business.  Any local business can verify our work as with our customers.  We are a small family owed business that is why we can charge less then other companies we do not have franchise fees or all the other costs of big business.  We try to keep the cost down for other families.  We are advertised in many areas and we have a wide span of customers.  If references are needed please contact us and we can provide you with the information need.

Mountaineer lost OD this week,,,,at 5000 miles

 Mountaineer that was rebuilt by Tabernacle lost OD this past wednesday. Had it pulled apart and the OD servo piston was worn out(seals where hard and not pliable) causing it to bleed fluid pressure by and not engage OD. This part should have been replaced at rebuild. That was one of the issues I explained to the owner of Tabernacle is that OD was sloppy. BEWARE. He just puts the bare minimum in the trannys and hopes it makes it to 12,000 miles. BEWARE BEWARE, tried to call twice,,no answer or reply both home phone and business. Only had 5000 miles on it since "complete" overhaul/rebuild per my reciept.

Shifts great now,,,,,VSS/ABS sensor was bad!!!!!

Got truck back, Shifts great now. Repair company said looks as if seals and bands and clutches where replaced but valve body was not addressed(worn passages-worn parts-springs). They test drove and it still shifted erratic. They found that the Vehicle Speed Sensor/ABS Sensor was bad causing no input for transmission to shift right. Replaced and all is great now. So, that just makes me wonder?????????????
