There are a lot of details and efforts,which are associated with a wedding reception. In spite of all the planning you
still have to rely on your vendor, and believe their assurance.  This is exactly the nightmare that no host, especially the bride and groom want to find themselves in.

After making a few trips to Orlando, we finalized the menu with Tabla Owner (Name not disclosed) (the owner) and his wife. I agree that they got creative with their menu, after understanding our preferences, and so we trusted
them to execute it the same way.  We wanted to make sure that either one of them, be at the event in Tampa, to
supervise the event to make sure everything went well. They started making excuses, which didnt make sense to us; nevertheless we insisted that one of them be at the event to make sure everything went in order. Close to the date,
when we tried to reach them to make sure everything was going as planned, etc, our phone calls were not immediately returned, and at the last minute we were told that none of the owners would be able to make it, but their chef, SJ
(Chef) would take charge on our reception night. We were not comfortable, but were assured it would all be ok. We spoke with SJ (Chef) about certain things prior to dinner time. I have to admit, that SJ (Chef) has a great attitude towards his guests and is pleasant to work with, but he was a chef and needed in the kitchen, not the manager who could supervise the process. Regardless, SJ (Chef) was advised that the event will go on till later, as several guests were coming after church service ended that Friday.

The evening was going great, and everyone seemed to like the food.  When the bride and groom stepped off the
floor to grab dinner, they were astonished to find that the caterers had wrapped up and left. So not only did the bride and groom go hungry, but also it was extremely embarrassing to have no food for those guests who came after the
church. Literally 40 guests were not fed on our wedding night. This was just not acceptable and screwed up all the excitement that was going on. So even though we paid them for 200 guests, only 130 were fed.  In spite of advising the staff about the last arrivals, they managed to wrap up and leave without informing the bride or grooms immediate family

After trying to reach them a few days after the wedding they claim that the remaining food was tossed. Makes me think, that you just went ahead and dumped food for over 60 people and didnt even have the courtesy to let the host know.

One of the biggest reasons we chose Tabla, was because the owners wife had told us in during our food tasting that, they do not do any marketing for their business. It was all word of mouth and references, which lead me, believe
that they cared for their guest and their satisfaction. Clearly I was wrong as in our case, it was exactly the opposite. I emailed him within a week, regarding the incident, for which I didnt receive any response for three days.
Tabla Owner (Name not disclosed) tried to cover it up by saying they called us, but there was no voicemail or missed calls from them.   

There was no acceptance that we had a bad evening due to the negligence of the staff and lack of communication. 
It is sad that inspite of serving decent tasting food, their quality of service is unacceptable. I am usually not the person to write a review, but their attitude and service forced me to do so. .

This was the last email we sent them, and I wont care to mention, how not very mature their response was in this matter, nor any responsibility in owning up the situation or offering a way to fix it.

This is SRM (myself), in regards to your last email to RJ(My Bro-in-law). You are absolutely right i do recall that conversation at Tabla on the day of  food tasting. Right after you mentioned about discarding the food, i told you that we would take the food with us, and you agreed that it was ok.

(2)  My second point is that irrespective of the fact when the dinner started, your staff should have the courtesy to inform, a member of the family ( RJ(My Bro-in-law) or Mom), that it is time for you guys to wrap up. At that point it is our decision to take the food, arrange for boxes or get it discarded. We had discussed that point with you for a reason. 

(3) You mentioned in your email that dinner started at 11;30 pm and you do not see how guests were not served, just to let you know it was friday we had prayers in jamat khana and the Bride and Groom who were busy entertaining  guests, did not eat that night because when they came out, everything had been wrapped up and nobody was informed. 

(4) This is precisely the reason we had requested multiple times the presence of you or Tabla C0-Owner(Name not disclosed) at the event,so we don,t find ourselves in such situations. That did not happen but you assured us that
all would be ok. We hoped that you had communicated with your staff about our requests since you chose not to be there.

(5) Honestly this was rather disappointing and embarrassing as we had family members and guests that went home hungry.Its a wedding occasion everybody is busy and running taking care of things all day and considering the lack of communication and what happened,this was not a happy ending.

(6) This is my first and only email to you because in spite making you aware of the incidents we are still finding ourselves giving you an explanation.When we met, Tabla C0-Owner(Name not disclosed) mentioned word of mouth is the only
marketing you do, which lead me to believe you care about customer satisfaction, i am looking forward to see you do so. Being that you are in the hospitality business  need i  say more,

Tabla Bar & Grill Owners - First and Foremost, Thank you for paying attention to our compalint now. Had you truly done what you promised you will do or responded to our grievances and addressed our genuine concerns, or even at least you truly bothered to maintain your reputation and do right to your customers on the day of their wedding, nobody in the sane state of mind would spend time, energy or effort to bring this dirty linen up on a public forum.

First some facts for people who read this so far and will want to hire Tabla Bar and Grill to cater to their weddings now or in the near future.

Amount paid to Table owners in advance (for 250 guests) $7000+tax ($28/head + tax)

Date of wedding : July 6,2012 

Number of people who had dinner that night : 150

Number of people who did not get dinner served: 50+ including bride & groom and immediate family

First time contacted: July 12, asking for their side of story as we didnt believe that they left early wrapping up before all guests came/got finished

Response on July 12 : saying that they threw away a bunch of food. no mention why they did that or why they didnt check with us before doing that.

we responded after checking with hotel staff and they said, the caterers wrapped up and left with the food.

July 17th: No response, email sent again requesting for refund for the 50guests with option to either pay half in credit towards another event and half in cash, that inspite of being extremely bitter that they caused 50 guests to be without food on wedding night.

July 18th responded saying he couldnt do anything and pointing finger at us for not keeping an eye of how catering was being handled

July 18th - Groom got very upset at this unethical and extremely unprofessional attitude and responded to the email with details of everything that ensued from time of signing contract and till day of wedding and their way of handling the situation

July 19th - Responded without taking any accountability and playing blame game and stating that dinner went till 1.30am which he claims when his team wrapped up and left at 12am.

Aug 4 - We responded with this email and a review on Yelp

We tried, But you apparently do NOT want to admit your fault nor have offered any way to fix this. Unfortunately this will not end here, We will have to bring this discussion to an open forum and then let the people decide whats right and whats wrong and how it needs to be fixed…and see where it goes from there

 Thank you for handling the situation the way you did, You quite impacted the respect we almost had for Tabla.

Bottom line, the owners very well know their staff dropped the ball by leaving too quick and withut communicating to any responsible person, thereby costing our reputation with teh guests, our own dinner and a bunch of disappoinments and time that followed through. Not even a single time did they accept or admit their fault and everything they said or did after made us regret our decision to hire them. We have been extremeley disheartened and disappointed with the poor handling, the false pretenses and the reliability factor of thsi vendor/caterer, and we will absolutely never recommend them to anybody.Should anybody want to see the emails or the contract violations, feel free to send me a message directly and I will be happy to share them with them.

Bottom Line, Had the owners tried to reach out to us and truly understand the siatuation and take responsibility and fix it, they wouldnt have had been in this pace where they have to defend their sitaution by trying to evoke false sympathy or empathy. The truth will stay and will come back, because we all know very well, what goes around comes around.

We are a family owned business and we understand the value of honesty, integrity and hard work. We have never cheated anyone and always go over and beyond to make the client happy. We have hundreds of happy customers and the positive appreciation towards our work is our MAJOR Strength to keep on getting better everyday.

Actaully Thanks to one of the advertising companies that made me aware that we had a report like this against us. That is why I am writing my side of the story.

The particular client has completely written wrong information :

Everyone ate in front of us inlcuding the Bride & the Groom. The Bride's brother who while eating asked our main Chef that we want to take all the leftovers back home. He asked him to go to WALMART and buy Disposables so he can take food with him. First that is not covered in our liability policy to pack open food and give it off and also it was almost midnight and our guys had to come back to Orlando. (ON THE DAY OF HIS SISTER'S WEDDING HAS TIME FOR THIS!!) Then the Bride's mother came, she said she was very happy and talked to our Chef that is the food gonna be there. he said yes and there was still extra pans of each item in the hot box. Please keep in mind ANY hotel does not serve food for more than 2 hours and I am sure they must have thrown it off after the time was up.

Our Chef had only left informing the hotel and the mother(who is definitley immediate family!!)

Please tell us how are we at fault?? Also, we tried to explain this same thing to the person writing this review. We always return call and or emails.

He just wanted a huge refund and we stood up for ourself because we were not wrong. He threatened that if we did not return his money he will tarnish our reputition and bad mouth us in his community. Which he did and we did loose a few jobs because of him BUT at the end of the day people realize who is right. Also, when you ARE a good company you survive. If we had given in and got scared everyone would have pulled the same trick on us because at that time we were a growing company.

Since I am writing back after almost 2 years I can say for sure that if your foundation is based on strong sincere principles nooone can harm you. Social media is good but in cases like this it sometimes works against honest, hard working people like us.
