First of all, I invite you to NOT take my word for what I am about to describe about my experience with Taco Bell Dallas on W. Northwest Highway.  At the bottom of this report, I will post a couple of links for anyone to research so that the fact that I am not the only one experiencing these issues with this Taco Bell location will become immediately apparent.

Taco Bell W. Northwest Highway: My Past Experience

I should point out at this point that over the last few months, I've visited this particular Taco Bell location (2245 W. Northwesy Highway, Dallas, Texas 75220).  Every time I go through the drive-thru - without one single solitary exception - they ALWAYS get the order wrong.  (As you will see from the Yelp link below, others have had the exact same experience).

Here are some other "issues" I've experienced at this Dallas Taco Bell:

  • Employees act like they don't want to be there, and they REALLY don't want YOU to be there!
  • Bathroom is just NASTY!
  • Food is decent (at least most of the time)
  • There is nothing "fast" about this "fast food" restaurant.  The entire concept of being a fast food restaurant is completely lost on the entire management and crew at Taco Bell W Northwest Highway!
  • If you complain about ANY issue, the employees and EVEN THE MANAGEMENT look at you like there's something wrong with YOU.

I've worked at fast food restaurants, Folks.  All of these issues are entirely unnecessary!

My Latest Experience In A Long Line Of Bad Experiences At Taco Bell Dallas

Reently, in spite of the fact that I have already had several bad experiences at this Taco Bell location, I tried to give them yet another chance.  It was just after 2:00 PM, and they weren't very busy at all.  My order was only $11 and some change.  I placed my order in the drive-thru, and it took me quite a bit of time to get to the drive-thru window.  I paid, and took my order back to my hotel.

After arriving back at my hotel and getting settled, I noted as I was taking my order out of the bag that my order was incorrect.  After looking at my receipt and looking at what I had, I found that not only did I have items missing, but I had been charged for things I never even ordered!  (If you think this is bad, read on... it gets worse...  MUCH WORSE!)

After all of the previous bad experiences I've had with this Taco Bell location, I'd had it.  I packed up the order, grabbed my receipt, and returned to the store.  The girl who took my order (I believe she was the manager on duty) approached me.  I pointed out all of the things wrong with my order, and asked her to fix it.

There was no apology.  There wasn't even a look of regret on her face.  As usual, I was treated as if I were the problem for daring to bother them with this.  She took my receipt and my order and disappeared back into the kitchen area, assumedly to fix my order.  After several minutes, one of the other employees came up to the counter and asked, "Sir, what was it you were missing again?"

"A Nachos Bell Grande", I replied.

He then disappeared back into the kitchen.

After several more minutes, yet another employee returned with my order,  It was STILL wrong!  I asked them why they even bothered to ask me what I was missing if they weren't going to get it right.  They didn't even respond.  They just looked at me like I'm stupid for thinking I should get what I paid for or something.  So, I explained all over again what I was missing.  After several more minutes (by now, I had been at the counter for more than 20 minutes), they finally added what I was missing, so as far as I knew, my order was finally right.  So I left and returned to my hotel.

After getting back to the hotel, we finally settled down to eat.  When I opened one of the other items in the "Box" I ordered, though, I found that the Taco Supreme I was supposed to have was only a Taco.  I checked my receipt, and sure enough, I had, in fact, paid for the upgrade from a Taco to a Taco Supreme.

At this point, I could not have been more upset.  Forget the fact that this was only a 60 cent error.  It was now a matter of principle.

A Bigger Issue Than Getting The Order Wrong

I called the store and asked to speak to the manager.  Instead of putting on the ACTUAL manager, they put one of the employees on by the name of "Jorge".  Jorge claimed to be the store manager.  I gave him the opportunity to clarify by telling him that I remembered him from my visit, and I was pretty sure he was wearing an employee's uniform and not a manager's uniform.  He assured me that he was, in fact, the manager.  I explained what my problem was, and told him I'd be returning yet again to get a Taco Supreme AND a refund.  He told me that would be fine and hung up.  So.... yes.... once again....  I returned to Taco Bell W Northwest Highway.

Upon arriving, I asked for the manager.  Jorge approached the counter.  The girl who took my order, and who was actually wearing a manager's uniform, stood back in the kitchen area about 6 feet behind him.  I asked him to confirm yet again that he was really the manager, pointing out the fact that he was wearing an employees uniform, and that the girl behind him appeared to be the manager.  He once again assured me that he was, in fact, the manager.  Even though I was sure this was not right (I confirmed later that my suspicions were correct), I proceeded.

I showed Jorge, the self-proclaimed manager my receipt and showed him my Taco which was supposed to be a Taco Supreme, and I showed him my receipt showing that I'd paid for the Taco Supreme.  I then demanded the Taco Supreme AND my money back, citing their money back guarantee which is clearly posted on the wall in the lobby.  (I have a picture of the guarantee.  If there is a way to attach a picture of the guarantee to this report, I will do so).  HE REFUSED!!!  He said he would refund me the 60 cents, but that was it!!!

Jorge and the rest of the employees looking on confirmed that they had once again gottem my order wrong, but not one of them apologized or even apeared regretful, but no matter what I said or did, this Taco Bell absolutely REFUSED to honor their guarantee.

I assured them that this wasn't over.  I told them that I'd be clearing my desk of everything else I had going on that day, and would do what I could to warn as many as possible about Taco Bell W. Northwest Highway.  Hence, my report here.

Complaining To The District Manager For Taco Bell Dallas

When I returned to my hotel, frustrated beyond belief, I called the 800 number on my receipt, and got a call center agent who was more than prepared to take yet another complaint.  I told her everything I've reported herein, and was promised a call no later than 3 business days.  Within 2 hours, I got a call back from someone claiming to be the District Manager.  The number from which I received the phone call is (469) 879-4305.  The caller ID showed "Kmac".  Although I was impressed with this man's response time, I wasn't impressed with his response.  While he was apologetic, he was careful to say that the employees concerned would merely be "spoken to".  It was clear that no one would be dismissed as a result of my experience.

"Training Issue" Or A Lack Of Character At Taco Bell Dallas?

The self-proclaimed District Manager I spoke with kept telling me that these employees simply needed additioinal training.  When it comes to the incompetent way in which my order was handled, I couldn't agree more,  The employees in question are either the most incompetent Taco Bell employees I've ever seen, or they are flat too dumb to work there!  However, as bad as all of that is, what's worse is the display they all put on when I returned to the store for the 2nd time.  They all lied to me about Jorge being the manager, including the ACTUAL manager!  I'm sorry, but this is not a training issue.  You can't train concepts such as honor or character into someone.  Either they have it, or they don't.  The District Manager's response clearly suggested to me that Taco Bell Dallas is perfectly fine keeping dishonest and dishonorable employees on their payroll.  I'm sure they would disagree with that statement, but that's sure what it looks like from where I'm sitting!

In any case, before hanging up, this man made arrangements with me to have me pick up my refund from another Taco Bell (since I was not about to EVER set foot back inside of the Taco Bell on W Northwest Highway).  He also promised me that he would let the other Taco Bell know I'd be coming.  It turns out that didn't happen either!

So, is this merely a matter of a few mere employees and a shift manager lacking character, or are they that way because they know that Senior Management won't do anything about their behavior anyway, since the management is just as bad as they are?!?!?  I don't know, but the convenience of this location to where I was that day isn't worth trying to get to the bottom of the answer.  Perhaps that's what they all are counting on.  Perhaps at Taco Bell W. Northwest Highway, they are just playing the odds that the customer who go in there and get sub-standard service aren't willing to go to the trouble that I am going through here today to write all of this.  It is because of this possibility that I write this, so that anyone reading this can be warned about what they are about to experience if they are dumb enough to visit this store anyway, despite my warning here.  My hope is that many people will see this, and will steer clear of this place.  My bigger hope is that either as a result of the loss of business because of the lack-luster and dishonest performance of these employees, or as a result of the in-store and above-store management seeing this, or BOTH, someone at that Taco Bell location will grow some integrity and clean up this place by FIRING these dishonest employees!  Meanwhile, and/or until that happens, all I can say is "Buyer Beware"!

Hope this helps

@ Robert in USA RE: "Definition Of Insanity"

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, September 23, 2015

Hi Robert,

While it appears in your message that you intend to be (at least somewhat) insulting toward me, it may surprise you to know that I agree with most of what you said.

I haven't figured out how to reply "inline" to your rebuttal, so I am just going to copy and paste your message below, and the leave my comments in red.

*********************************************************************************************

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.  -  I couldn't agree more.  However, in the past visits to this location, while employee behavior was lackadaisacal at best, I hadn't experienced blatant, aggregious dishonesty as was the case on this occasion.  But yeah, you're right; I'm still kicking myself for going back there.

You complain that they ALWAYS get your order wrong...yet you return.  -  Again, yes, I ought to have my brain examined to have gone back there again.  That's kind of my point.  I point this out here on this venue in hopes that my experience will help others avoid the same.

But even when you return you don't take the 30 seconds to verify your order and/or your receipt while you are there.  No, you travel all the way back to your hotel, get settled and THEN look at your order.  You don't do that once...but twice in the same incident.  You're right; like the vast majority of people who buy food from a fast food place, I didn't pull all of the food items out of the bag and unwrap each and every item.  Apparently, that's what it takes in order to ensure that these people get your order right.  Quite honestly, I was in a hurry, and I just didn't think about it - something that happens to every human being on the planet.  However, my point is this: SHOULD I HAVE TO?  I wrote this report because I thought others might want to know that if they are looking for competent service, they may want to consider going elsewhere.  My desire is to warn others so that they don't have to endure what I did on their FIRST visit, let alone after having a "brain fart" like I did.

It is not like you were missing a small item, you were missing a Nachos Bell Grande the first time which if I remember is probably one of the biggest things that could be in your bag and something very obvious that would be missing.  -  Again, you're right.  I had a "brain fart" moment to even think about turning into their parking lot after what I experienced in the past.  Does that justify their behavior?  You appear to be attacking me for trying to warn others about what it's like in that store.  The fact that I was dumb enough to give them yet another try doesn't excuse their dispicable behavior.

By the way if this Taco Bell is so bad, I took a look and there are 3 other Taco Bells within about 6 miles of that one.  There also appear to be numerous other fast food resturants within just a few blocks that I am sure would be more than happy to take your money.  -  Yes, I agree.  In fact, just the next day I went to the one just south of this location down I-35E.  Night and day difference.  In fact, when I visited that location, the manager on duty there could kind of tell that I was a little "on edge", even though I hadn't told her why at that point.  She was kind enough to ask, and kept asking until I finally shared this same story with her.  When I told her, she was almost as horrified as I was.  Everything that the Northwest Highway location did wrong she and her crew did right.

You say you will never step foot inside of that location again.  Based on your history...to paraphrase a famous actor/Governor "You'll be back".  -  This is the only point on which I don't agree.  If it had only been them not getting my order right again, yes, I might forget and have another brain-fart at some point in the future while my mind is on other things.  However, after the absolutely horrid experience I described in this report, I can assure that I will NEVER be back.  However, again, I think you're missing the point.  Yes, I was an idiot for going there again.  I'd already had several bad experiences.  We can go back and forth on what an idiot I was all day long.  The point of this report is not about my behavior.  The point is about theirs.  My intent is only to warn others what they have to look forward to.  My stupidy doesn't justify poor customer service, poor attitudes, poor cleanliness and hygiene and it REALLY doesn't justify blatant dishonesty!  I am not the one whom others might consider paying for food, therefore my brain-fart is beside the point.

I hope this clarifies this matter.

Oh and no I do not work for Taco Bell or any resturant.

So because someone made a mistake YOU think that they deserve to be fired?? What kind of jack*** are YOU?? NO ONE IS PERFECT!!! Not even YOU princess. get over yourself. The GREAT thing is that YOU have WILLINGLY posted defaming remarks ONLINE!!! Meaning that YOU have set yourself up for a nice fat lawsuit that THEY WILL WIN!!!! Firstly, WHAT is YOUR problem?? Im NOT buying YOUR lies!!! If ANY resturant had so screwed up MY order, I wouldnt give them a second chance. So YOU going back MULTIPLE times pretty much shows your tale to be a fabrication. If YOU are going BALLISTIC over some sour cream then YOU are LYING about half of your tale. While its understandable to be frustrated, YOU do NOT have the right to present YOUR opinions AS FACT!!!! THAT is what YOU have done. Secondly, WHEN the hell did YOU become ABSOLUTELY PERFECT?? SO perfect that YOU think that YOU get to determine other peoples employment. Mistakes happen and its a mark of YOUR MATURITY as an ADULT that seperates us from animals. All YOU have shown is that YOU are a PETTY, SELF IMPORTANT person with NO REAL grasp of WHAT maturity IS and HOW to use it. Lastly, WHAT gives YOU the right to name ANYONE ONLINE??? YOU have put these people IN DANGER by naming them!!!! THEN you give us all YOUR OPINION about these people. YOU DO NOT HAVE THAT RIGHT!!!!!! If ANYTHING happens to these people due to YOUR POST, YOU are legally responsible!! As responsible as the person who causes them harm!!! YOU need to face the REALITY in front of you!!1 YOU ARE THE PROBLEM!!!!!! YOU had no right to act as you did in the store and YOU had NO RIGHT to put OTHER peoples lives in danger because of $0.60 worth of sour cream!!! YOU ARE THE REAL PROBLEM!!!!! YOU are a spoiled immature child with NO REAL grasp of the consequences of YOUR actions. Personally I hope that Taco Bell takes offense to what YOU WILLINGLY POSTED!!!! THEY have MORE money then YOU princess and THEY can take EVERYTHING from you and YOU DID IT ALL TO YOURSELF!!!! Maybe in the future YOU will remember that THESE ARE HUMAN BEINGS!!!!!!And try and remember that YOU ARE NOT PERFECT!!!!!! It gives perspective, something YOU are lacking!
