Show customers why they should trust your business over your competitors...

While at the Excalibur in Las Vegas (August 29,2009), my boyfriend and I were approached by SURESH NARANG, telling us that they are doing a promotion at the hotel to get people to come back to Vegas since the economy is so bad.  They were offering 3 FREE NIGHTS when you pay $100 up front. And that when we used it within a years time, we would either get the money back to spend on whatever we liked or towards a show or dinner at either the EXCALIBUR or LUXOR HOTELS.

The very first question that I asked MR. NARANG was "Is this a time share?"  His response to me was "No."  He didn't say anything about having to go and sit at a timeshare presentation, (considering I just asked him if this was a timeshare, and if it was I wanted no part in it), and continued to ask us our ages and if we were married or live together.  We were both of age but ARE NOT married, and DID NOT and STILL DON"T live together. These were TERMS THAT YOU HAD TO MEET TO QUALIFY FOR THE VACATION... obviously we DIDN'T!

When he had us come up to the desk to sign some papers, we were handed over to another "employee", KEVIN ANGLES. My boyfriend was the one who filled them out. He took both our names, my address, and his credit card.  When MR. ANGLES was explaining the papers he said nothing about having to attend a presentation to be able to claim our 3 FREE NIGHTS.

Now we are planning a trip back to the Excalibur in the next month and wanted to use our days, since we paid for them. But when I called the hotel to ask them how I go about using my nights, they didn't even know what I was talking about!  Pretty much the people that work at the hotel, work for a different company(TAKE A BREAK TRAVEL/GRANDVIEW AT LAS VEGAS) and have nothing to do with the EXCALIBUR/LUXOR HOTEL itself.  I feel like I have been PLAYED FOR A FOOL and that they answered my questions with a LIE to get me to pay the $100 so that they could get commission off of it!!!

I have also tried to call the company, and I spoke to a woman named CATHERINE. She was VERY rude and didn't seem to care what I had to say and didn't help me at all. She just kept saying that since I signed the papers that I couldn't get my money back, and that I had 30 days to get a full refund from the time I signed them. (August 2010 will be one year)

At this point I am VERY frustrated and now just want my money back or the free nights..ONE OR THE OTHER!!!  I recommend to people that they DO NOT do business with this company, TAKE A BREAK TRAVEL/GRANDVIEW AT LAS VEGAS!!!!! They are FRAUDS and and will con you into something that isn't what they say it is. DO NOT TRUST THEM!!

Keep the paperwork

AUTHOR: DIDYOUKNOW - (United States of America)

I did the same thing with the same company but the difference is I kept my paperwork. If you were paying attention they tell you to call them and NOT the hotel with a couple of different dates you might want to come back. I called the next year with dates and got the ones I really wanted. We were able to stay at the Palazzo and my aunt at the Venetian at the same time (we both did it seperate). Yes we got our money back and got 3 free nights.

All that I'm saying is next time if you pay money to somebody then you should keep the papers that you were given for a record.

#3 REBUTTAL Owner of company

Just do your due diligence

AUTHOR: Imogene - (U.S.A.)

I bought a package from this company for only $99/person for a total of $227 for four people. It included a hotel stay in Orlando for 4 days/3 nights, 2 day passes to an amusement park of your choice and 3 bonus vacations. From the time I purchased the package in 2003 and booked the trip in 2004, there were no additional charges asked for. I did my due diligence after I received my package by reading carefully all the fine print, like the cancellation policy, which is a generous 30 days after purchase, the cost of the additional trips and what exactly was included. It said clearly on the back of the confirmation letter that there would be a timeshare presentation. In addition, I looked up the company on the internet to see make sure I had all their contact information and to see if they had any complaints from the Better Business Bureau.

When we arrived at the Welcome Center, we had no problem and we received all items, as agreed. The only additional fee we paid was the $24 hotel room tax for all four nights. The room was alright, certainly not hotel quality and about like a 3 star hotel, but the downstairs area was a showpiece. Indoor and outdoor pool, video arcade, karaoke bar, several restaurants where you could get free breakfast and dinner. Proximity to Orlando and the amusement parks (we were actually in Kissimee). The timeshare 4 bedroom suites made our hotel room look a little dinky. I could see how it'd be comfortable for a large group. The downer was that a 2 hour presentation ended up being almost all day when all was said and done. Luckily, my husband and I agreed that we would say no, no matter how much we were pressured. Unfortunately, some people weren't that strong. What I found telling is that our salesperson basically told us they offer these low cost vacations mainly to herd people in, and if they manage to sell a couple of timeshares, they've paid for the cost of the vacation packages. After we didn't budge, our salesperson, who brought us in a car, left us stranded at the sales center, but luckily a shuttle took us "losers" back to the hotel.

I can't speak for Take a Break Las Vegas, but I can't complain about our accommodations. In fact, that trip is one that my family all fondly remembers. Just do your due diligence. Because I had such a positive experience with that trip, I was lulled into agreeing to take a low cost cruise with another company. I have no idea what possessed me to do it. I really wish I had read about that other company before continuing to fork over money. Since that company has had a class action suit filed against it and several states have successfully won the right to participants getting a full or partial refund of payments, I'm going to try to see what I can do.
