MAKE HIGHCROFT GREAT AGAIN - NOT with FRAUD, DECEIT, NEPOTISM, and Dr. Gamble at the helm!!!!!  

When was the last time HDE met growth--much less exceeded growth?  Was it four years ago?  Or, was it five years ago? What happened to the “Honor School of Excellence,” which is deceitfully posted on HDE’s web? This leads parents, who are searching for a home, to believe that HDE is a great school!

What has happened? Is Dr. Gamble embarrassed by this, or is his head into Disney? Funds are being used for staff who have no contact with students, such as a second assistant principal Ms. Marlowe and a more than full-time IRT. Davis Drive, at the top of the pack as Highcroft once was and a 2016 Blue Ribbon School only has one assistant principal, but HDE has two assistant principals.  Why?  Is Mrs. Marlowe sucking the funds dry so there is no technology teacher this year? TAs are responsible for teaching technology as a special. The students are devastated that they don’t have a certified classroom teacher. Wake County’s slogan: “All our teachers are certified!” Technology at HDE is going back to the Dark Ages and not in the 21st Century! The tech contact is someone who has no idea what she is doing.

Davis Drive has a half-time IRT; HDE has an 11-month IRT. Why? She has no contact with the students and obviously hasn’t helped Highcroft achieve scores.

Not only is Ms. Marlowe taking money away from students, she is never there. She takes days off, with the benefit of not losing  sick days.  Here are some excerpts from email Dr. Gamble sent to staff on 10-13:

I'm writing to share an update with you.  I know that you notice that Camille is not at school.  ………………….……

In truth I have no idea when she will return to Highcroft.  She probably thinks she'll be at school on Monday, but she needs to do what the doctors say (and that will be hard for her because she loves coming to work each day with all of you!).................

Taking days off because of illness is not the problem. It is taking days off without taking a sick day for them. She obviously had not been there for several days. She was not there on Monday.  Would an audit reveal that she was not absent on those days, along with many other days during the past year?

Two staff members visit to the cafeteria each day, taking free meals from cafeteria, when student have to throw away food if they don’t have enough money!!!

What is nepotism? According to Dictionary.com it is: “patronage bestowed or favoritism shown on the basis of family relationship, as in business and politics.” Ms. Marlowe’s two daughters and a niece are now working at HDE.

Administration is not there putting the kids first; everything is done to make admin first.

IS the Board closing a blind eye? When was the last time there was an audit?

These are only a few of the issues facing HDE, once a great school!!!

With a new bond referendum coming around, I know what my vote will be.

Dr. Merrill, do you support these findings? Maybe it is a Wake County issue instead of just a Highcroft issue, and principals need to be held accountable.

At what point does an employee go on disability rather than being sick without having sick days docked? Can all teachers negotiate having sick days counted against them and free food everyday for lunch? I didn’t know these were negotiation points. This is very disturbing to teachers, as well.

A Concerned Taxpayer With Close Ties to Highcroft

Grow up and let educators do their job, wow what a profound comment!  Is that not the MAIN point of the original post. You certainly did miss the point, seems you may be too personally connected to Gamble to be objective.

If you have not had a negative experience with Gamble, well then consider yourself lucky.  If you take the time to ask other parents, there are not many that have anything good to say. Let me clarify,  ask the parents that actually are involved with the school.  The ones that participate within the PTA, or other events that still exist.

Fact:  Highcroft went from a school ranked/scored as a 10, and now is a 6.  

This is a direct reflection of the principle and his lack of leadership and direction!   It does not matter WHY the score went down, it ONLY matters that it is NOT what it should be.

Anyone who has a child attending Highcroft should be extremely concerned.  The principle and the staff are lacking.  There is a tremndous negative attitidue amoungst the teaching staff.  Parent volunteering has been removed from many grade levels, due to teachers viewing it as "too much work".  A school CANNOT be successful without partnership from the school staff and the parents.

Again, you missed the point!  If scores are not important, then why does Dr Gamble have “Honor School of Excellence” on the HDE website, especially when HDE had the lowest scores in Western Wake? It clearly is not the “Honor School of Excellence.”  The other Western Wake schools do not have this information--they do not need to do this.  Their scores prove it.  No lies.

Do you have proof that many have had a wonderful experience as you and your child or children (whichever it is) have?  You are speaking for many others.

Well, venom may not be spewing if scores get better.  Perhaps students are too busy looking at the decollette of the staff and not paying attention to important things or bing too embarrassed to concentrate.  

As a teacher and parent, I find this post ridiculous.  A school is more than a test score.

Clearly you are a disgruntled employee.  Why don't you try staying in your room and teaching your students instead of spreading poison everywhere.  Better yet, move on to a place where your negativity and morale buster will be appreciated.

Highcroft does not need you.  We have administration and staff that surpasses your depiction of our school and my child, one of many, has had a wonderful experience here, as have I.  Shame on you for spewing such venom.

I am impressed that you know the verbiage of an educator, such as attendance record.  I think you missed my point, though.  As an educator, I am sure you know of the importance of EOG scores.  Are you satisfied that your children attend a school that hasn’t met or surpassed growth in three years, a school that was successful for many years?

Are you aware that titles, such as “Honor School of Excellence” posted on the web are no longer used?  Yet is still being used by Dr. Gamble.   If Dr. Gamble is working so tirelessly, then what happened to the scores of a once successful school?  As I pointed out, HDE had the lowest scores in Western Wake.

Again, HDE was not included in the following article;  “In North Carolina, eight schools were recognized. Wake County's Davis Drive Elementary and Morrisville Elementary were recognized as Exemplary High Performing Schools: among the state's highest performing schools. The principals of each will get to go to Washington, D.C., for a ceremony, and the schools will hold local celebrations later in the year.” (From WRAL.com.)

When an administrator has added no value to a school, is it time to move on? Maybe he has worked tirelessly but not wisely!

This is absolutely ridiculous.  It truly doesn't deserve the time of day.

However, I felt strongly enough to respond to these accusations.  I know for a fact that Dr. Gamble works tirelessly for the students and staff at this great school.  My children and our family truly love this school and community, and Dr. Gamble is a big part of that.  

Dr. Gamble deserves to go on trips with his family, just like everyone else.  Are teachers allowed to take time off with their family?  Why can't he?   Are you trying to say he left and didn't take appropriate leave?  How would you know?  How do you know his children had excused absences?  Have you looked at the attendance record?  Have you filed a report with the school district?  If you have, then I guess it went no where.  He's still there.

He's allowed to do things on his own outside of school.  Just because something was posted on a website during school hours doesn't mean that he was the one who did it.  I noticed that the website you referred to is run by a travel company, so he probably doesn't even have access to that site.  Have you ever asked him?  Have you filed a report with the school district to report fraud?  If you have, perhaps they took action against him.  He's still at the school so it must not have worked out your way.

Obviously you are upset about something and chose this path for revenge.  Grow up and let educators and professionals do their job!
