TAPNYC The Actor's Project NYC scam, ripoff, money, lies New york New York

TAPNYC claims to be a workshop in which writers of monologue material work with actors chosen to polish a monologue for an agent showcase. It is sold to be a membership in which you receive coaching, rehearsal time and space, and access to writers and actors for peer discussions and advice. There is an audition process. You feel hopeful and excited when you are accepted. Here is what I learned after I was invited into the "company":

Everyone is accepted. Everyone that auditions gets in if they can simply memorize words. The monolgues chosen for your "actor type" is from a book writen by the owner, Bobby Holder, of this scam. He also tries to sell his book to you. Once you are assigned a monolgue you perform it in front of your peers and they give you 3 comments or advices. You never recieve professional coaching, you never workshop with the writer of the monoluge, becasue there isn't a writer besides Bobby Holder. Bobby was even giving advice as to how to do a monolgue with props and body language that my PROFESSIONAL acting professors said NEVER to do. 

I went to my co actors Showcase night and I saw 2 or 3 agents that were not a well renowed member of the industry. Maybe they were from a boutique agency, but the point is, this was sold as an agent showcase and out of the 50 or 60 people (friends of the scammed actors and Bobby Holder) there were only 2-5 agents there. 

I dropped out of the course becasue I couldn't belive my $500 dollars was spent for nothing except the rehearsal space and the rental of the showcase space. THAT is what you are paying for and only that! Your money goes to SPACE RENTAL...NOT ANYTHING that benefits you as an actor. I requested my money back after seeing the terrible class and terrible actors that were invited in and the terrible unhelpful comments from the other actors watching and Bobby Holder rudely said he doesn't return money for drop outs. I can't tell other actors enough how unhelpful and a waste of time and money this is. DO NOT join this. You are much better off finding a coach or acting class. THIS SHOWCASE IS A SCAM.
