I bought a Chefmate 1.7 cubit foot refrigerator from Target in August 2008. In February the refrigerator just stopped working...period. Everything it in went bad, just for no reason. When I tried to retrieve my receipt the ink was all rubbed off (I think Target uses that type of paper and ink just for that purpose). I then called Target's customer service number and was told to call the manufacturer Haier because they were the one who made the fridge. When I called them, they said they did not make the refrigerator, and to call Target back. When I called back I spoke to this ignorant female who kept asking me for all kinds of numbers and acting as if I was stupid. I gave her the serial number, the model number, everything that was there. She then said none of those numbers matched with what she had, and there was nothing she could do. Also, when you go online to try to find Chefmate's customer service number, you can't, and the customer service number on the instruction manuel rings busy 24-7. Smells like a scam to me. As for Target, how are you going to sell a product you can't trace, and have receipts in which the ink rubs off. Target and Chefmate don't ever have to worry about me spending another dime with them. Don't do business with a company who cares nothing about their customers, they don't want to be fair. They just want your money.

AUTHOR: Peanut - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 25, 2009

So your 6 month old fridge died, and your 90day(which is 3months) reciept faded, well lets see it doesnt matter that your reciept faded it was no good anyway. TARGET DID NOT RIP YOU OFF!!! You bought a Chefmate fridge not a Target fridge so how again is this targets fault?

i bought that same refrigerator 2 years ago. but mine still works. Target only has a 90 day return policy but in the end everything breaks down. it also is not Targets fault. just get another refrigerator

More than 90 days

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)

Firstly, Target has a 90 day return policy. If you bought the refrigerator in August, you would have had to return it by November for any kind of refund or replacement. Even with the receipt, there was nothing the company could have done. Secondly, Target doesn't buy receipt paper with fading ink for any kind of fraudulent purpose. It's just cheap.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

So, what is it you want?

AUTHOR: I Am The Law - (U.S.A.)

Ok, so what do you want here? Do you want Target to absolutely 100% guarantee that a product they sell will never break? Perhaps you'd like Target to buy a parts facility with pieces to every single product made by companies they buy from? Come on, get real. That's like me contacting a car dealer and fussing at them because they don't have hubcaps for a Pinto they sold to me back in 1974. Come on, you know as well as I do that Target doesn't "make" products; they only sell them. They're not responsible for fixing the fridge. It's called a warranty and that goes through the manufacturer.
As for your receipt, your theory about Target using substandard receipt paper so you can't return things is laughable. You bought it in August and dug up the receipt seven months later. I'm sure that receipt went through a lot of wear and tear in that time.
