My daughter was registered with the Target store just off of 290 near Spring Cypress for her November baby showers. She had a lot of friends and received over 30 items of clothing from Target. Unfortunately, the baby was 8 lbs 6 oz and too large for those items. When she tried to trade them for larger sizes, NOT A CASH REFUND, BUT SIMPLY AN EXCHANGE, the woman at the service desk was surly and obnoxious and told her she could return/exchange only two items per year per ID and, if she didn't like it, "Here is the 800 number where you can call to complain"!

The policy is dumb. The attitude was in- excusable!
I hope that any expectant mother will take heed and avoid registering with Target for her baby shower.

Receipts

AUTHOR: Jamie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 27, 2006

She didn't have receipts that is why.

If people bought things from the registry and told them at checkout they should have been provided with a gift receipt that they should have given her.

She was not seeking a refund

AUTHOR: Dan - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 27, 2006

Gifts don't usually come with receipts and I don't believe she had receipts for the new baby items. She was not asking for a refund, but to exchange the small items for larger ones.
Since she was registered with that store only 60 days earlier it would not seem that difficult to check their computer records, look at her figure and the new baby and conclude that the situation was as she described. According to her older sister, who was with her at the time, she didn't want to cause a scene and simply loaded the stuff back in her car and said she hoped they would fit the next baby, if there is another. She did not call the 800 number.
She was merely disappointed; it was her older sister that was outraged by the clerk's attitude.

Were there receipts?

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 26, 2006

Were there receipts(gift or regular) for any of these items?

Many stores have the "2 per year per ID" rules for items WITHOUT receipts.

Well, Did Your Daughter Call?

AUTHOR: Elaine - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 26, 2006

I understand retail stores having policies to prevent fraud, and tracking individuals who are "chronic" returners, but this sounds strange, 2 returns per year...what did Target Corporate say?
