Well where even to start? First of all a word to everyone out there planning on using this company DON'T....contact the IRS they will help you figure out a plan to get out of tax debt they really aren't as scary as you all think.

I contacted Timothy Foley for his EXPERTISE in resolving tax matters. After an initial consultation he told me my case was simple and would be resolved quickly.

1) Initially hired his company and he quickly proceeded to:
- Anger the IRS agent handling my case to the degree that she wouldn;t take his calls any lonmger
- He had to contact her bosses boss to resolve the garnish they had started since the tax agent didn;t seem to return his phone calls.

2) At this juncture I called Timmy and left a voicemail telling him that I wasn't pleased with his service. Since he had made arrangements to have an upcoming audit in his office I acquiesced and let him continue handling matters. By this time roughly a month had passed. During the audit Timmy was frequently corrected by the tax agent regarding tax issues which gave me reason to again doubt his competency.

3) After the audit he told me he would follow up with the tax agent. This was at the end of February. According to the tax agent he was contacted a few times by Timmy. But when they failed to get in contact with him a few month(s) later it exacerbated my case even more. If Timmy did 8 hours of work for my case in 2006 I would be surprised.

4) So due to his lack of follow through and professionalism I hired Ameritax to represent me. They gave me an itemized bill of what they were going to do and what it would cost me.

Timmy is now trying collect $3200.00 as a bad debt from me for services not rendered!

First, of all I never got the BBB's return e-mail because it went into my spam folder and when I contacted them afterwards they said the case was already closed.

Why wouldn't I respond to a case I originally filed?
Tax Relief Inc. won that one by default.

Secondly, As far as the court case goes I actually did file a motion after your lawyer was somehow able to show that I was served papers that I never received and received a court judgement against me. I know this because when I went to the clerk's office they said they had evidence that I had gotten the summons. Which would have been physically impossible since I was at work at that time working late on a budget. Again Tax Relief Inc. wins by default because I should have gotten legal representation at the start of all of this but I didn't because I had to pay the other tax relief firm I hired after my run-in with Tax Relief Inc.

Again why would not respond to a summons knowing a default judgement could be put on me?
Tax Relief Inc. wins that one by default too.

In any case now Tax Relief Inc. has put a levy on my bank account for almost $10,000. I guess Tax Relief Inc. felt the $1600 i dispute wasn't enough so why not REALLY get paid for work we both know Tax Relief Inc. didn't do. Tax Relief Inc. is trying to buy the pot like in Poker when you have a bad hand. The problem here is I refuse to fold. It's just that simple for me. If I have to start paying money for legal representation (i.e. it looks like I will) just to at some point in the future get a judge to agree that a business that doesn't do X shouldn't get paid for it then that's where we are with this. And as far as me making noise online I thought we lived in a Country where being able to state a legitimate discontent wasn't a problem. Tax Relief Inc. feels like I should pay them just because they think they deserve it outside of the fact of actually performing the work. Sad but true.

As far as me being credible there are really only two choices here.

1) I am making up the whole thing and you REALLY did the work you want to get paid for and I just don't want to pay you.
-Which is interesting because if that happened then that means I ended up paying two companies to do the same thing at the same time. The second company got paid because they actually worked on my case.

or

2) The situation happened pretty much the way I described it initially.
- My money is on (2) because I know what happened and this rebuttal is being made on rip-off report not CNN.

Tax Relief's Rebuttal

AUTHOR: Timothy F. Foley - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 04, 2008

Bruce believes if he yells loud enough and hurls enough insults he can avoid his obligations. Bruce now uses this website to present his scurrilous nonsense.

We have been a proud member of the Better Business Bureau since 1996. We take all complaints seriously. Fortunately we have had only one complaint in the last three years. Bruce filed a complaint in 2006. We responded in a timely manner. According to the Better Business Bureau website: Company (Tax Relief, Inc.) addressed the complaint issues. The consumer (Bruce) failed to acknowledge acceptance to the Better Business Bureau of our offer to have the BBB arbitrate the matter.

When Bruce continued to ignore our efforts to settle the account we pursued a legal judgment. We presented our case in court and we were awarded judgment.

When called upon to defend his position within the framework provided by the Better Business Bureau and the court proceeding Bruce fails to respond. Yet he makes semi-anonymous reckless and damaging comments on an internet website. You can judge for yourself whether Bruce is a credible person.
