I can't believe this. Like everyone else, I saw the commercials and called TaxMasters. They sounded competent on the phone, so I listened to what they had to say and signed up that day. I guess I should have done my homework up front. The long and short of it is that I gave them my Visa card info over the phone on Tuesday, December 9, down payment of $750 with installments for the rest of the services over time. I saw all the negative comments on here and in other places the next weekend and got real nervous.

I called first thing on Monday morning, December 15 and got through okay. Told them I wanted to cancel because of all the negative Internet comments. I wrote the letter they requested and sent it the next day, so my assumption is they got it certainly by that next Friday, December 19.

I gave it until after Christmas to call and check on the refund. They said they didn't have the letter. I sent it again on January 2 and called to confirm they had it. They finally admitted to receiving the letter on January 9, a full week after I sent it. They said it would go to review board and they'd be in touch. A week later and no word. Finally 2 weeks ago on Friday January 23, I get hold of their collections people and they say no refund would be awarded. I asked why not and they said that work had already been started and I agreed to the services on the phone.

That's $750. That's a lot of stinking money to me. I can't believe I got snagged in something like this. And biggest problem of all is I still have the IRS after me on this. I'm at the point I don't know what to do.

Pissed off is an understatement. Work already started, my eye. If I lose my house over this, they are so sued.

Report fraudulent charges to cancel your Visa number and get new one

AUTHOR: Freedomfighter - (U.S.A.)

If you haven't already, report the fraudulent charges to your VISA card company. Get the card number suspended, and ask for a new VISA number and card. This will prevent TaxMasters from continuing to charge your card, which they probably will attempt to do if your number is active, based on what I see from many of the complaints here.

This will protect you from continuing charges from this company. Read my personal saga here at ripoffreportdotcom for other ideas.
