I am only in the beginning stages of an emerging rebate ripoff involving Fry's Electronics and TCA Fulfillment Services. I purchased a Samsung Monitor and sent in my rebate in early August, 2003, and patiently waited 10-12 weeks with no check in the mail. Early this week, I called the 800#, 800-578-8883, answered "Rebate Center" and was told by someone named "Claude" that my rebate had been denied because the purchase period ended Aug. 2, and I had made the purchase Aug. 3. But my rebate info. card stated June 19 - Oct. 4, 2003, I protested.

They had obviously received my mailing, that much was clear. Why the problem with the dates? Couldn't they access the original mail-in or a online copy of it? No, I was told I had to fax in the copies plus the original purchase receipt to 914.633.8772 ( a long distance toll call for me). I was told to call back after 72 hours, which I did, and was given an 8-digit control number to reference.

When I called back after 3 days had elapsed, the phone was answered by a most unhelpful person who identified herself as "Joanne", who said that it takes much longer than 72 hours to research the problem and that I was to wait. This didn't sit well with me, and we had a conversation that rapidly escalated into crosstalk. Who trains these people to yell at customers? She hung up me, so I called back the next day and talked to "Chenise", who informed me that my control number that "Claude" gave me was irrelevant and they weren't tracking things that way anymore. I had to reexplain the entire situation. Neither of these two girls apparently had any prior information or tracking on my specific account or problem.

Since then, I have done some research and found out who is behind this company, and read the numerous complaints on ripoffreport and others.

I have only been involved in this battle for a week and I feel this is a good start but I have not yet begun to fight!
