I am a newer customer with TCF Bank and after today I am done with their business! I checked my account online, as I regularly do, and it was overdrawn by $56. The previous day I had a positive balance, which included a pending deposit. When I called the bank to address this issue, I dealt with a customer service representative and his team lead, named Tiffany, who both did nothing except tell me repeatedly how managing account balance is the customer's responsibility and they couldn't change anything on my account because it wasn't a bank error. Basically, there were several transactions that had previously posted or were pending, taking money out of my account. There was also a pending deposit. TCF takes money from your account for pending withdrawals but does not recognize pending deposits, which caused my account to be overdrawn. Despite the fact that the deposit posted the next morning, I was charged $74 in overdraft fees overnight due to this and my account is now overdrawn solely because of the fees I was charged. I told the team lead I spoke with that I would be taking my business elsewhere because I do not feel comfortable bringing my money to an institution that I cannot trust. Short of a less than genuine apology, the team lead was completely useless. I would recommend that anyone using TCF Bank close their account now! It's not the amount of the fees that upsets me, it's their absolute lack of customer service skills and complete disregard for their customer's satisfaction. I have over $250,000 now that I WILL NOT be investing in TCF Bank!!!!

This is the most rip-off bank I have ever banked with... I never had a problem with a bank including Bank Of America until TCF ripped us off 400 dollars,,, I think it's wrong for them... My husband and I have a law suit pending right now,, as soon as we get the paperwork from two of our best Lawyers in town!!  Good luck to anyone out there, but DON'T bank with TCF very bad news these people are!!!!!!  Bank Of America is better than they are, and they're going bankrupt... LOL  That is pretty bad for TCF.....

There's No Dispute About This!

This account is YOUR account and contains YOUR money.  The only person, as per your initial posting who uses YOUR account is YOU.  There is no mention, as per you, of fraud or bank error in connection with YOUR account.  What has happened here is very easy to see.  Despite this being YOUR account with YOUR money, YOU have/had no clue as to what the exact balance is/was because YOU don't keep records!  YOU don't use a check register or similar written record with a continuing, on-going running balance.  But, YOU continue using the account, running up debits, when YOU don't even know if YOU have enough money in the account to pay those debits.  You didn't and YOU generated overdraft fees.  Then when somebody comes here trying to educate you as to why YOU caused this, the response is a series of snotty, smart aleck remarks thanks to your very obvious attitude problem.  So, you know how to manage your own affairs?  What a joke that statement is!  You can't even properly manage a simple checking account without using money you don't have!

This bank allows you to use pending funds to make purchases, I have done it before and received no penalties. I do not feel that expecting the bank not to pick and choose what transactions they allow simply to make money, means that I don't feel the rules apply to me. I can tell by your condescending attitude though that you're a man, probably a white one, and an obviously self righteous republican. I'm sure you feel justified in believing that a large institution, like a bank, is obviously right and a lowly consumer, such as myself, is obviously wrong. All of you right-wing nut jobs are the same, but please spare me your "words of wisdom". I didn't post this for advice, I'm perfectly capable of handling my own affairs. I simply wanted to warn people that TCF, like most banks, will do anything to make a quick buck!

It is unfortunate but they are correct. Your pending transactions hit BEFORE your deposit. It is not their fault YOU overdrew your account. Now you get butthurt when they PAY your bill when you needed it? You seemed to enjoy the fact that you were able to make your purchase at the time you did without it being declined. Suck it up buttercup!!! YOU overdrew your account and the price of it was a overdraft fee. It doesnt matter which bank you go to next, THEY ALL CHARGE A OVERDRAFT FEE WHEN YOU OVERDRAFT YOUR ACCOUNT!!!!!

Really grow up and accept the responsability for your actions. The bank did nothing wrong except ALLOW a transaction through that you couldnt pay for so they did pay for it. I swear ppl like you who think the rules dont apply to them truly sickens me. You live a life of double standards. You expect the universe to bend to your will but dont do anything for anyone unless you benifit from it.

This is not a ripoff. THIS IS THE COST OF MAKEING A OVERDRAFT MISTAKE!! Get over it and yourself. Customer satisfaction IS NOT giving you your way. Especially when this is ALL ON YOU. YOU MADE THE MISTAKE NOT THEM!!

This is a fake ripoff report...it is obvious that this poster expects that life doesnt apply to them.
