TD BANK promised in writing a reduced rate for direct withdrawals from a TD BANK account. It has been one year since I got the mortgage, and TD BANK is yet to honor the promise. The branch manager tried to help but the Mortgage Divisions disregarded his requests. TD BANK has a centralized Mortgage unit, so it is not a particular branch that gives you a mortgage but one national division, regardless of where you file at.
The tellers at the local branch are very nice, but the representatives at the Mortgage Division are very rude and unprofessional. TOTALLY UNRELIABLE AND FRAUDULENT BANK.
Right before the settlement they increased my rate almost 1% in spite of the written promise to keep it locked fro 60 days. The lawyer thought it was a mistake and fixed it by hand during the settlement, so I signed the contract with the previously agreed rate. However, the TD BANK began withdrawing money from my account using the INCORRECT interest rate. I called the settlement lawyer THEY picked and SENT to my house, and he said this was unethical and a breach of contract, but that he could not do anything about it.
Countless emails, faxes and requests, to no avail. Every time TD BANK responded: "we are reviewing your complaint and will respond in 2 to 3 days": they never responded with a solution! I tried to file a lawsuit and discovered that TD BANK makes you sign an arbitration agreement as part of their 500 page contract, so you can not sue them. I am trying to figure out how to file an arbitration claim. This is my third house, and it is the WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! STAY AWAY FROM TD BANK!!!
