tech 24 STAY AWAY !! alaxandria Virginia

We received a visit from Tech 24 on January 26^th 2015 for service on our newly installed Garland Range. Immediately upon arrival the tech began to complain about how our gas system was installed and was not laid out properly. These remarks began even prior to the tech performing any testing what so ever. I would like to inform you that our gas piping was installed by a licensed master plumber and was done under permit of the Fairfax county building department. We have been using our gas supply for multiple appliances over the years including 2 extremely high BTU Bakers Pride deck pizza ovens. We have never had a gas supply issue in the 10 years I have been operating this kitchen, furthermore at the time of the techs service call the only appliance that was using the gas supply was the Garland Salamander. Only one half of the salamander works. The appliance has two separate elements and two independent gas supplies after the regulator, each fitted with its own control knob. The right side is working properly and the left side does not work. EVEN WHEN THE RIGHT SIDE IS OFF the left side does not work. The tech was very unwilling to try and solve the problem with the appliance and had extremely poor customer service skills. He spent most of his time testing the gas supply pressure and according to him determined that the supply was insufficient even before attempting to diagnose the salamander. He also made derogatory statements about the manufacturer, complaining that their company often has to fight to get paid by Garland and that is why he is making such a big issue about the gas supply. He also inferred that I would be receiving the bill for the service call because my gas supply was inadequate and the call would not be covered under the Warrantee.

The tech tested our line and said that the appliance required 7 psi gas supply and I observed his gas meter to read 5.25. Then we checked other appliance feeds on my system and they all read 5.25. The tech than stated that our entire gas supply coming into our building was inadequate, please take note that our gas supply has been supplying a 35lb deep fat fryer,6 burner range with a convection oven, two (2) 8 pie deck pizza ovens and a char broiler for 10 years without issue and NONE OF THESES APLIANCES WERE ON WHILE THE TECH WAS TESTING. I knew that something did not add up so I refused to sign the techs 5 paragraph service call ticked and decided to do my own investigation of what the appliance requires as far as gas pressure. The next morning I pulled out the garland operating manual for my salamander (SEE ATTCHED) and discovered that according to the manual the gas requirement is 3.45 not the 7 that the tech claimed and the 5.25 that I have is plenty enough to supply the salamander. I believe that the only inadequacy in this scenario is the techs knowledge of gas supply requirements.
