We had a new a/c unit installed by Technical Services on June 26th, 2009. We had called them originally to come and clean the existing unit and inspect it. The salesman said we needed a new unit as the old one was moldy and not functioning properly. Since we had just moved into the home in January we decided to go ahead and let them put a new unit in. We paid 5500.00 for the unit. Within a couple of months time the unit quit working. We called Technical Services and a tech came out and said a fuse had blown. He replaced the fuse and showed my husband what to do if it happened again. Of course, it happened again and again and again. We replaced multiple fuses within a couple of months time. We called Technical Services again and the tech that came out said a wire inside the unit in the garage was touching another wire. He supposedly fixed it and the air came back on. Just a few months later the unit quit blowing cold air. We called Technical Services again. The tech told my husband that it probably lost it's charge and to shut the unit down, wait five minutes and turn it back on and it should recharge. We did this and it worked for about another month or so before it began blowing warm air again. We did the turn off and turn on trick several times before even that quit working to fix it. We called Technical Services for the third time and the tech that came out said that whoever installed the unit had turned a switch to gas instead of electric and that a lizard or something had chewed a wire in the condenser. He replaced the wire, turned the switch to the proper setting and left. The air seemed to be working fine for awhile. We went on a camping trip for four days and came home to a house that was 87 degrees. The air was blowing tepid and nothing we did would reset it. We called Technical Services at 1:30 p.m. We got a return call back at 5:45 p.m. and the tech said it sounded like the condenser was bad and they couldn't do anything about it until Monday. At that time it was 90 in our home with all the fans running and table top fans on. It's awfully funny how when we purchased the unit they were there in an hour to install it, but when we have a problem there isn't anyone who can fix it for three days. The tech didn't even want to come to our house to check it out. I got really angry at this point and basically told the man to come and get the piece of crap unit and put a new one in immediately. He did finally agree to come out and "look" at the unit to see if there was anything he could do. When he got here he said it wasn't the condenser but the unit was out of freon. Now how come a unit that isn't even 2 years old is losing freon, we asked. He stated there must be a leak somewhere. But that he would be able to add freon and get us working for the weekend. Unfortunately for us he did not have the freon on his truck that he needed so we would have to stay in the 90 degree house and he would be back on Saturday before noon to charge it. As of this writing it's almost 11 a.m. here and I have yet to hear from him whether he is coming back or not. I've called the answering service and left messages for him to call and let me know if he is going to be here. I left messages on the owner of the company's home phone regarding what is happening and they have not responded. They also have a complaint contact and I left a message on their line as well. Still no response. We called friends that own a heating and cooling company and they have said that the compressor is bad. It may have a charge but it is not functioning properly. All we want is for them to replace the unit with one that works and we don't have to keep turning it off and on, or replacing fuses or calling them every two months or so to come back out here. Our 2 year service contract is up this month and we know if they don't replace the unit by June 26th then we will be charged service calls everytime they come out to fix this lemon. I would not recommend this company to anyone. They have also had multiple complaints filed against them at the Better Business Bureau. I've learned my lesson. From now on before I purchase any type of service like this I will check first on Ripoff Reports and the BBB before I buy.

Tech has arrived

AUTHOR: Shane and Misty - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, June 04, 2011

At the writing of my original report the tech had not arrived. He showed up at 11:45 which was before 12 as promised. He recharged the freon and said that one of the caps was loose and that was why it had leaked. (I didn't think Freon was supposed to be leaked into the air?) I will be calling the company on Monday morning to insist they install a new unit. We'll see what they say.
