Distinct Advantage, Teliflex deceiptful possible scam Ripoff Holiday Florida

On 6/15/06 my husband recieved a phone call from a company called Distinct Advantage. They told him that because of our banking history that we qualified for a coupon package and free gas certificates, plus more.
All they needed was to verify our checking account number.

As he takes no part in the checking or bill paying process, he believed they knew our checking number by reading the routing number. He then was asked to read them the next set of numbers (the account number) which he did after grabbing the spare checkbook. They told him there was no purchase and his account would not be billed for anything.

On 6/24/06 I recieved a letter which looked like junk mail from a company called Teliflex. Since I am on the lookout for anything suspicios since that phone call I opened it and read carefully. It included an unlimited long distance phone card saying I had a 21 day free trial period, and a letter that said thank-you for joining and if I did not cancel in that time frame my account would then be billed a fee of $49.95 each month.

I immediately phoned to cancel. I didn't get the operators name but the recording said the company name was Teliflex. I asked the operator if he knew the company Distinct Advantage. He said they were a company they worked with that promoted them. I asked if he had their phone number. He gave me a number, I hung up and called only to realize it was the same number. The operators name this time I believe was Richard Swifts. I explained the situation and he gave me a new number for Distinct Advantage. I called, the recording said Distinct Advantage, it went to an operator, his name was Richard Swifts... same guy. I asked him why? He told me it was because he needed to log on to a different system. I asked him to make sure my account was cancelled. He said it was. I told him it was deceiptful, and a scam the way they got our checking number and I wanted all of my information deleted from their system, and I wanted nothing more to do with them. He said he would take care of it.

I fully expect to see more "offers" from them or related companies.
