Show customers why they should trust your business over your competitors...

Be careful when applying to work for Teletech...you're never getting what's being sold to you. They tell you one thing, then say another thing once you're hired. Their reasoning for this is "well, we didn't know at the time" or "things change."

Also, they'll force you to work overtime, cancel all your breaks and tell you that since it's not the state law they don't have to give you any breaks and can make your work 8+ hour days and if you refuse to find employment elsewhere.

They don't care...they don't offer any recognition that you're going above and beyond.

Beware of TeleTech.

Missouri is not a Right to work State and does have rules in place regarding worker breaks. The National Right to Work's website has Missouri listed as a forced union state (although this is also a misnomer).(1) Missouri is in fact an 'At Will to Work' state, meaning that employees are free to work, form unions, and abolish unions, with the consent of the employer. Several problems can arise from this form of labor rule. One example is that an employer can terminate a position with out any reason at any time (but so can the employee). Another example is the limit of collective bargaining that an employee or group of employees can do without the consent of their employer. However, Missouri, under article 2, section 9 states

"that employees shall have the right to organize and to bargain collectively through representatives of their own choosing."(2)


Although it is true that Missouri does not have a standard set for employee breaks and lunches, most employers, in fear of lawsuits issue a 5-15 minute break every 2 hours and a 30-60 minute lunch break every 6 hours. (3)

There Are Laws

Every state has different laws about lunches and breaks according to the lengths of shifts.  So, it is dishonest, invalid,  misleading, and completely untrue to try to claim that the company is not required to give breaks at all.  It may or may not be true for that person's particular state but, not in entirety for all states.

Labor Laws & Breaks

Depending on your state, your employer may or may not be required to provide you with breaks throughout your shift.  Federal law does not require employers to give breaks, however, your state might have mandatory meal breaks.  Check your state's website for the labor commissioner, or call them.

This is correct. There is no legal obligation for a company to give you breaks.

Missouri is also a right to work state, they can fire you for whatever reason they wish.

Remember, if you don't like a job, yuo can always find another one.
