Polaroid - Circuit City New Polaroid 32" Flatscreen TV shuts down without power after 15 months! Jacksonville Florida

Purchased a Polaroid 32" 16:9 HD-Ready Flat Panel LCD TV/Monitor. Seemed like a good early January deal as Circuit City was trying to clear out their inventory.

Felt comfortable not getting Circuit City extended warranty, after all the TV it was replacing (Taiwan - noname brand) lasted me 12+ years. Every other flat screen I have bought has lasted me at least 3+ years.

Went to turn on the power. No power signal at all. Swapped AC power cord, thinking it might be that, nope. AC power cord is fine.

No power light indicator on the display?

Would seem simple to replace/fix.

Circuit City said they would ship it out to a Polaroid repair place...no satisfaction.

Polaroid offered 2 number for service. One in California, and the other in other end of Florida. I would have to pay the shipping/insurance etc.

Polaroid wanted to offer the $300+ option to swap in another replacement and I would also have to pay the shipping costs to them? Not sure if you know what these TV's weigh, boxing, insurance etc.

I read another almost identical complaint from a Chase in Jacksonville also. Could it be that Polaroid has a intended defect with the power controller!

The like situation is just too uncanny. Am I to fork out payment for $2/300 just for a power controller replacement?
