In preparation for a trip, my wife took her SUV to Texaco Xpress Lube for an oil change. She was pressured into having the $49.95 transmission filter service, the $20.99 rear differential service and the $20.99 front differential service. This was in addition to the $22.95 full service oil change. Also charged $10.00 for their special fluid charge. Total bill $127.19. I went to the Texaco Xpress Lube and spoke to the manager. He said they only recommended services based upon the manufacturer.
He said that he would not adjust the bill. The vehicle has been routinely serviced at the same location, but under previous management since March 2001.

Don't let your wife take vehicles to Texaco Xpress Lube, even when the offer their lady's day $3.00 off special. You may be in for a $100.00 surprise.

They techs sometimes don't listen

AUTHOR: Bill - (U.S.A.)

I went to Texaco Lube On Rancho Drive in Las Vegas this afternoon. Just wanted the quick oil change and nothing more. The tech brought a list of recommended service to include a PCV valve. I told the tech i wanted nothing additional. He was instructed by me to do the oil change and nothing more. He put the PCV valve on and charged me for it. His excuse ---- I (the tech) must've misunderstood. He offered to remove it but I was more interested in getting out of there. I won't be back to any of them. I'll be sure to let others know of this happening.

#1 UPDATE Employee

Offended Xpress Lube Manager

AUTHOR: Keith - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 23, 2003

I am not employed by the specific company mentioned in this article, but rather the manager of a seperate Texaco Express Lube located in Corpus Christi, Texas.

As managers, salesmen, and lube techs it is our job to inform the customer on services recommended by the manufacture each time they come into our shop. We can not make the decision for the customer on whether to accept the service or not.

We try to treat everyone fairly and assume that the person bringing the vehicle in for service is the one responsible for making the decision on whether to perform any additional services other than a standard oil change. I have also been accused of "taking advantage" of certain customers, be they men, women, or even a teenager.

If the customer agrees to have the service done at that time, it is our job to do it. We are there as service advisors and technicians to perform a service.

Contrary to popular belief we are not there to "rip-off" anyone. I have literly 100's and 100's of customers that return to my shop on a regular basis because of the excellent service my employees and myself provide. Most of us are honest people.

Everyone should not give up on Texaco Express Lubes because af a few people's opinions. Be the judge of your own local shop. We are here to help you and keep your vehicle in the best conditon possible. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
