I have been a member for almost 2 years and all that time payed for a personal trainer.

I had finally met my goals and tried to cancel.

I used the courtousy phone within there facility to contact the accounting department directly. Since I had used this phone in the past to change memberships and cancel my wifes membership which all went well I only assumed that this would work for me to cancel my membership as well.

They stated that they were sad to see me go and said they canceled.

Next months billing sure enough there was another month added plus late fees.

I Called back in again (this time from my home phone), again they said they would take care of it and this must of been an oversite. I could only assume this time it was taken care of.

Next months billing sure enough its there again and another month tagged on plus fees.

This time I was mad and asked why this has not been canceled. They stated to me that they never got my call and there is way too many phone recorded files for them to go back and check confirmation. The stated that they did find the conversation where I had canceled my wifes membership but stopped there and didnt look further for my cancelation. They also stated that there receptionests are trained to not do this over the phone and that this has to be canceled according the contractual terms and be in writing to them.

I appealed to them to remove it. They stated that they will have to take it to upper management who then stated they will not remove it and I must write them a letter to cancel the account and then I was obligated for even another month of bills.

In the contract it states that disputes can be resolved and during this process no furter interests, fees or dues will be accured. However since they did not find in favor of me they tacked on an additional 1/2 month membership plus fees.

All said and done it took me three months to close, three months of membership dues, multiple late penalties and fees.

There was no help for the members repreave to this type of an appeal system and seems that they can do and say all they want with nothing regarding help to the members complaints. This is not arbitration but extortion.

I write this for so others will know how terrible there cancelation policy is. I googled this and found I am not alone. There is multiple examples of this type of extortion posted. I am saddened that I did not do the searches first before joining.

I have appealed to the BBB to see if they can help but dont expect much there.

I am at my wits end to what else I can do except post my complaints all over the internet so others will not fall into this trap.
