On 9/2/06 I incurred $1050.00 in damages to my new construction home walls, ceiling & hardwood floors due to the negligence of Apartment Movers, Inc.

I have made repeated calls to try to handle this matter. I was told to get my own estimates because "they were too busy". On 11/2/06 I received a letter from Apartment Movers, dated 10/9/06, denying my claim for damages and offering me a 20% discount on my next move.

After I stopped laughing (I wouldn't hire them to move a dead cat from one side of the street to the other!!) I decided that this was DEFINITELY not sufficient compensation for the costs I will incur in repairing these damages, nor the hours I have spent on the phone with Apartment Movers trying to resolve this issue.

The letter I received stated the reason my claim was denied was "based on the contract you have signed." I did in fact sign a contract stating I had accepted delivery of my furniture.

It was not until after the movers left and I was able to assess the damages that I realized I had a new hole in my ceiling that wasn't part of the original construction, gouges thru my wall into the sheetrock, and my hardwood floors were gouged and scuffed.

I have spent several hours attempting to resolve this situation with Pete Ovella in the Houston branch and Bret Meister in the Dallas branch.

Pete is the employee who told me to get my own estimates because "they were too busy". Bret has absolutely NO customer service skills and doesn't return calls or care about reimbursing customers for damages that resulted from his companies negligence.

I also find it funny that at no time has any employee of Apartment Movers asked for copies of the photos I have taken of the damages, OR offered to send their own crew out to evaluate the damages to my home.

As a side bar, the original move was to have taken place between 1pm-5pm on Friday, 9/1/06 and Apartment Movers had to reschedule it due to a medical emergency. I graciously agreed to a move the following day (9/2/06) between 7am and 9am. I told their representative that I had plans to leave town that afternoon, so the movers needed to be on time.

I was assured that since I was the first move of the day, it wouldn't be a problem. Long story short-- after sever hours of frustrating phone calls and being given the run around by no fewer than 4 individuals at Apartment Movers, the movers showed up at 1:45pm.

If you ask me, this business has no "business" being in business!!!
