This complaint is an official request for a refund of my warranty agreement premium of $750. This request is being made because The Auto Connection has failed to perform on the contract. This contract was entered into on July 17, 1998 and payment was made in full by VISA account being billed with two payments as follows:

07/21/1998 The Auto Connection $210.00
08/13/1998 The Auto Connection $540.00

The Auto Connection's non-performance has been a real headache for the Lou Grubb Dodge dealership, the Warranty Management Corporation, and myself. Calls to their office by me have been ignored to date. Also a visit to their residence on October 2nd produced no results.

My first claim occurred in July of 2001 when the window regulators failed on my 1998 Dodge Intrepid. It was at that time we discovered they had not forwarded the appropriate fees to Warranty Management to make my agreement valid and therefore I was not their system. I furnished everyone with a copy of my agreement entered into with The Auto Connection and also furnished the data to show that the premium had been paid in full.

The Auto Connection (Gail Aleaga) indicated at that time they would be sending a check to them by overnight express. Warranty Management, in good faith, went ahead and authorized the repairs for a total of $843.93. I assumed everything was okay until I took the car back into the dealership on September 28th of this year for several oil and water leaks. I had the service writer make a claim on the service agreement again only to find out that Warranty Management (now American Warranty) never received payment from you and I was still not on their system.

I discussed this with Ken and Ed of American Warranty (800-531-1925 X210) and they said they would make a phone call to Gail Aleaga. The last thing I heard was from Ed that Gail was going to overnight the check again. Finally, I received another phone call from Ed indicating their non-compliance and they are denying my claims for reimbursement on the repairs.

It is totally apparent that The Auto Connection is not going to comply with the request to forward the payment and place my service agreement in force. Also, American Warranty is refusing to have any further business relationship with The Auto Connection. Now I'm the victim of an apparent fraudulent business practice.

As a follow up, The Auto Connection finally contacted me (Sarah) on November 8th. This came only after my contacting Channel 12 12 ON YOUR SIDE (Channel 12 NBC) and registering the complaint with them. The TV station had placed a phone call to them trying to get an explanation. Sarah called from The Auto Connection and sent me a fax of the Service Agreement Remittance Report and a copy of the remittance check.

I forwarded a copy of this fax to American Warranty and requested that they reinstate my agreement. After contacting American Warranty and talking to Ed (800-531-1925 X210) it has been discovered that The Auto Connection has fabricated the log and the check. First the date stamp was not recognized as being the stamp used by American Warranty. Also the copy of the check furnished appears to be a blank check that was filled out to satisfy the request.

This check DID NOT clear any bank because all checks that clear a bank will have the amount of the check MICR coded in the bottom right corner underneath the signature line. This check was not coded. Again, a blank check was pulled from the checkbook, filled out and a copy was made. You will also note that the check date (July 17, 1998) matches the date stamp on the log form which is an impossible event with overnight express?????! (at least 24- to 48-hour delivery time. Not a very good proof of payment.

The main problem now is that even if The Auto Connection sends them a valid check American Warranty IS NOT going to honor it on behalf of my contract. They indicate that they've had problems in the past with The Auto Connection and have severed business relations with them. In fact American Warranty is out $843.93 and I'm out $750. The fraudulent scheme appears to simply be reduced to the fact that they keep the premium payment money until a claim is made. At this point The Auto Connection arbitrarily decides whether they are going to send the money to the warranty company. If they have a thousand clients and follow this same procedure then this fraud on consumers can add up to quit a bit of money.

The CONSUMER FRAUD by The Auto Connection just continues to endure. My appeal is to any consumer protection agency that can help me obtain my $750 refund.

I recall that this issue was taken care.

The Auto Connection did not pay claims, we were just a sales office. Independent Warranty paid claims.

Your complainer stated in his complaint that The Administrator authorized the claim to the Dealership and that my office provided proof that the premiums were sent in.

He then states that these logs were fraudulent.
First of all, this complaint should not exist since he stated in the first place that he had proof of payment and authorization.

If the Administrator failed to put him in the system of record the payment, that has nothing to do with my company. This complaint should be against them.

We provided the proof at that time.

We have been out of business since 2003 and are requesting you remove this compaint now. I am not summitting the information again.

You are slandering my good name.
