*Consumer Suggestion: Why Would Anyone Prefer a "Purebred" Dog?
I have also been a victim of the bulldog exchange. Our puppy arrived with a severe case of diarrhea caused by giardia, which took multiple veterinary visits to clear up. Now she has been diagnosed with hip dysplasia as well as knee and other skeletal problems. She is in need of knee surgery as well as hip replacement, which at the present time are not affordable. I hope anyone looking for a puppy will avoid this company and seek a reputable breeder. I am sure we are looking at a great deal more expense to insure that our dog has some quality of life.

The Bulldog Exchange has been shut down!

Joyce,
Very sorry to hear of your ordeal with the bulldog exchange. They have been closed down for almost two months now. I am a victim of these people as well and was told by the authorities that my mini bulldog (no such thing actually) was most likely bred in Hungary and NOT in Florida or the U.S. There is a class action law suit being filed against this company and it's owners. You have no idea how much trouble these people are in and neither do the other commentors on this site. I implore you to contact the West Palm Beach County Animal Control in Florida to file a report.
Comments of "Why buy pure bred?" or "Why buy a mini bully?" are not helpful for the situation you are in. You and your pup are victims of con artists. I understand. I have been there. Good luck to you and your bully.

I was genuinely sorry to read the list of comments about the bulldog exchange. Although our dog has health concerns, she will be given the best care we can give her. I did not contact the company about my concern since we were aware that english bulldogs have multiple health issues. I sincerely wish I had done much more research before purchasing our puppy.

Hi Joyce. First I would like to make it clear that I am not defending these people in any way (as a true bulldog lover and someone who has a great deal of experience with them I have some MAJOR issues with a great deal of the things I have read about them) nor am I saying there ISN'T a major issue with your bully that goes beyond normal. I would however like to make sure that what happens in the future really is in the best interest of your bully and that any surgeries that are done are done because they ARE required. Is your vet a bulldog vet? How many do they see in a week or a month? Are they aware of what DOES cross the line into being beyond normal' for this breed? Our bulldogs are prone to several issues by the very nature of BEING a bulldog. So, is your vet aware that HD is almost always present even at birth due to the fact they are bulldogs? Again, due to their structure, they are prone to muscle injuries, then an x-ray is done, and a vet whom is not as familiar with the breed may diagnose the problem as HD as it is going to be there (the quality of the x-rays can be an issue as well at times as well as how old the dog is) and rec. surgery but may not be fully aware of when it crosses the line into that territory for this specific breed. In other words, it isn't whether or not it exists in a bulldog (among other breeds), but the severity which is the issue. I wish you and your bully all the best. *just my opinions*

Why Would Anyone Prefer a "Purebred" Dog?

Are you looking for a companion or an ornament/play thing?
While I realize there are reputable breeders out there, the notion of spending hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars on an animal companion is unfathomable.
