The Dump Charge a bogus 20% restocking fee!! Houston Texas

Show customers why they should trust your business over your competitors...

We went to The Dump for a sectional sofa.  We found one that we thought was perfect.  The back was a little higher than normal, and we asked the salesman about the dimensions.  Nothing was EVER said about this being an oversized piece of furniture.  When they attempted to deliver the furniture to our brand new home, it wouldn't fit through the door.  Unless you had double front doors, this furniture wouldn't fit through any door!  Now our doors are standard sizes, and I feel that this store should alert you to oversized items.  We were told that this wasn't their problem.  They are charging us a $600 dollar restocking fee.  When they lifted up the sofa to bring it in the door, you could see the damage to the legs of the sofa, and I have to wonder if they have tried to deliver this sofa to other customers and then when it obviously can't fit...go on to pocket $600.  What a bunch of crooks.  I learned a big lesson about seemingly nice sales people who lie to make a sale.  I've been dumped!!

Your fault..

AUTHOR: Robert - ()

Nothing was EVER said about this being an oversized piece of furniture.

- Well that's not exactly true.  By your own admission you say that the back was "a little higher" and asked the salesman about the dimensions.  It seems like something was YOU.

Yet because the salesman didn't use the word "oversized" it is their fault?   What was the purpose of asking the dimensions?  Because unless you have a celing that is 2-3 feet high, HEIGHT is the least of the worries for most people unless they know there might be a "door" issue.    So what was the purpose of asking for the dimensions?  Apparently even if he did give you the height you didn't do any measurements before you decided to plunk down $3,000 on a sofa.

But out of curiosity just what type of an alert did you want?  Would a Neon Sign been enough?  How about putting up a billboard outside their store?  Perhaps the salesman should have refused to sell it to you until he forced you to drive him to your house and measure all of the openings.

Also, can you please tell us what is a "standard" sized door?  Because I can go to 3 different doors built at three different times and get 3 different "standards".  Do you really expect the salesman to know the size of every door in every house in 100 mile radius?
